My clarinet got stolen! :bigcry:

Oh no! :surprised: How?!

I asked my brother to take it...and he left it on the bus

haha I love clarinets just because of what they look like and I know a lot of people who don't like the sound.....but I really like it....it depends on what is played and how it's played....I am not the best player, because I mainly play the sax....but it is fun to play it...and I improve everytime I play it...

here's mine (Yamaha YCL-250....unfortunately not the one made of wood)

There's still hope for the world.

Wow what an irritating comment.

Yeah, some people think the clarinet is kind of annoying, but it really depends on the player and music.

You play sax? I'm thinking of learning alto sax. :wacky: What type of sax is it?

That's nice! And don't worry about the mouthpiece, on my plastic clarinet I washed the mouthpiece (exactly how my band director told me too! :shifty:) and it turned green. :wreck:

But at least it was clean!

well, Reilly, you assuming that this is a dildo makes my clarinet being dirty on top quite irritating:blank:

I've started to play the alto sax around 15 years ago.....but then I changed to tenor...I prefer tenor because of the sound. But it's cool to play the alto, too....

alto is always better for a start because it isn't as big as a tenor....eventhough that doesn't really matter anymore when you're an adult....people just choose it for their children because it is smaller.

ooooh how did you wash it? You're not talking about the reed, right? I usually take a tooth brush and some warm water and sometimes toothpaste and then I clean it with it....it works fine for me

I like the tenor sax too, but I would probably get an alto because they're cheaper and it would only be a secondary instrument.

Nah, just the mouthpiece without reed or ligature. . . I got a mouthpiece brush, wrapped the cork in paper towel so it wouldn't get wet, then used room temperature water and just a bit of soap and scrubbed the mouthpiece with it, inside and out.

yeah altos are cheaper....you should get one for a start then:)

haha ok.....I actually didn't expect you to leave the reed on the mouthpiece while cleaning, but you never know haha...:p

it is weird though that it turned green...hm

Yeah. . . are the fingerings the same between alto and tenor? /stupid question

Apparently it was because they type of soap I was using reacted with the plastic mouthpiece. . .

Yeah. . . are the fingerings the same between alto and tenor? /stupid question

HAHA! HAHAHAHAHAHA! *Points at you* HAHAHAHAHAHA I have no idea.

the fingerings are the same yeah....it's just the tuning that is different..

haha and it's not a stupid question.....finally a topic I know some stuff about:wacky:

Oh, I see! And isn't it the same fingerings for each octave, but you add the octave key? Or something like that. :P

yeah you just add the octave key....pretty much the instrument for losers (well according to the fingering haah).....so if you can play the clarinet (which is much more difficult according to the keys) it shouldn't be a problem for you to play the sax:p

Ah, I see.

And the embouchure is also very similar, so it wouldn't be as hard as switching to trumpet or something. :awesome:

So I'll think about it.

yes it is actually the same. well, not exactly the same, because the clarinet has a smaller mouthpiece which was hard for me at first....but once you get used to it it is quite similar.....since the sax mouthpiece is bigger than the clarinet one it should be easier for you to switch
