I've discussed this before. A friend and I were talking about what would happen if all the disappointing bands donated a member, would they make one good album!?

We donated some of Placebo, Feeder, Stereophonics, Muse..few of the other bands who's latest efforts have been.. disappointing.

i alread y have the perfect band...Dave Matthews..without the saxaphone...and with Tim Reynolds and butch taylor (like they do on many tours)

okay, i can't really decide who'd be on my dream band, but i'm sure it would be something like a mix of coldplay, travis and radiohead... hard to decide who'd do what though...gaaah! chris vs fran vs thom. that's hard! and on the drums, will vs neil vs phil. whoa, theyr names rhyme. lol :P :dozey:

I dont see what all the fuss is about this Dave Grohl character. Seems to me he's just the "lucky" member of Nirvana, finger in many pies, who didnt die.

he's an amazing drummer..., writes good songs..., can play the guitar well, and my girlfriend likes him more than me.. :D

So he can play 2 instruments and write songs? Thats no major achievement by most standards.

i said writes Good songs...and said he's an amazing drummer.Fair enough, he's just a better than average guitarist in his playing ability..but the things he makes up are ( in my opinion ) good.

ah i dunno it would change daily but my dream band would be the size of the polyphonic spree :cool: :P

i dont think he's that great a drummer at all..but then i'm used to Carter Buefaud of Dave Matthews Band who blows him out of the water, does things on the drums i've not seen anyone match. And it's good because he's held in high regard in the music industry by his peers.

 

I don't think grohls songs are all that good, i think his guitar playing is weak and his voice annoys me

I dont like the foo fighters that much, but David Grohl is an awesome drummer...probably one of the best in the world, no joke. He is in various side projects as the drummer (Queens of the stone age). His guitar skills are above average, but his drumming ability is crazy good.

Stop trying to be a bad-ass, however, I would agree that Dave Grohl is alright but it's not like hes the best ever, Jose Pasillas and Jeremy Taggert are where the true talent lies at.

go watch a vlive video of halloween, two step, bartender, dont drink the water, you never know....song's he'll rip into with more talent with one hand than grohl can muster in two.

Carter may be an incredible drummer, but that doesnt mean Grohl's talent and hard work should be disregarded alltogether. So basically Grohl's hard-work and dedication over the past couple of decades (playing for Nirvana, producing and backing bands like Queens of the Stone Age and Tenacious D, and pretty much writing and producing all the material for Foo Fighters) all of the sudden means "nothing" just because there's another drummer who can play better than him. I'm not a huge Foo Fighters fan, but I've got to admire his talent. He's in a totally different category than Carter, since he played all the instruments when Foo Fighters was born, sings, writes, and produces. People would kill to be able to do that.

did i disregard grohl? erm...let's read what i put again shall we? Oh no i just said he's not the amazing drummer everyone else is making him out to be when compared to real amazing drummers. He also isn't a great guitar player, and i don't think he can write songs at all.

 

I didn't say he hasn't worked hard, far far from it, the only thing i do admire about him is that he has done a lot in his life and has enjoyed it and has made money from it AND has helped music in his own way.

 

I'm just saying he isn't As great as his little ego popping fans would have you believe, but he's not the worst by any shadow of a doubt
