Chiptune (aka Videogame Music)

Featured Replies

Anyone else enjoy the music while they play videogames?

I really like the soundtrack for Super Mario Galaxy 2! :awesome:

I WAS TOTALLY GONNA MAKE A CHIPTUNE THREAD HAHAHA.

I love it~

Yes. :P

I have a lovely list here of chiptune stuff I can download free, once I've listened to it all I'll tell you. I just got interested in it today, okay? :P

It's legal. :P

hahaha at least I didn't say Adam Young

WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE

On "Super Smash Bros. Brawl," there's a "my music" function where you can go and listen to all the music present on the game, divided by stages and such. A lot of the music they have on there is great, particularly for "Metal Gear Solid."

Oh super mario galaxy 2, haven't played it in a while. It does have good music :)

Um how about zelda's music. Haha I think its kind of nice :P

Does the music for the game series "Guitar Hero" count?

I like Noriyuki Iwadare. :|

Does that count?

i never knew that video game music's called "chiptune"...something new learnt! :)

& my fave are all Square Enix games. Nobuo Uematsu's scores for the Final Fantasy series & Yoko Shimomura's scores for the Kingdom Hearts series.

if you guys ever get the chance to see VGM/chiptunes performed live by a full symphonic orchestra & choir aka the "Final Fantasy concerts" or the 'Play! A Video Game Symphony' concerts...GO. frigging amazing stuff! with the video game cutscenes playing on big screens while the music's performed live.

The games are just a music video hahah.

Yeah! It's weird how nerds think they're really cool, but everyone else realizes they're just being arrogant. :shifty:

....no.

Well, not all video game music is chiptune. Typically chiptune music is found on 8-bit systems (Gameboy, NES)

There's also module music, which I tend to lean towards.
