That ^ pretty much sums up my initial reaction after reading it.

so that's where Reilly works on weekends?

dont get me wrong, I am not making fun of this, I do think it's horrible

:wtf: I thought it was like super hardcore illegal in Muslim countries to be gay.

Hahaha the ironic thing is, I've watched an entire documentary about this.

Yeah that's what I didn't understand while watching it, I think I missed the first 10mins so I didn't really know what it was about, but slowly started to realise what was going on and how fucked up it is. I was sitting there like :wreck:

The old men had some really fucked up logic, I can't remember how it worked but it was something along the lines of how young boys are like toys that appreciate you, but it's not gay because it's just sex and not being in love. Also something about how when they reach a certain age they lose innocence or grace or something, absolutely whacko.

It didn't really go into much about the cultural reaction to this, it reminds you that the world is a very large and complex place, this appeared to be happening in small parts of northern Afghanistan from very rich, influential and powerful men, so basically I got the impression that nobody would dare to question it (Including the police).

but now i'm curious on the documentary

:stunned: HE SAYS FUCK YOU !!!!!!!!!

:wtf:

WUT. That's beyond messed up. :wreck:

The possibility of "being pardoned" doesn't excuse you and give you the right to knowledgeably continue committing the same sin, though. THAT MAKES NO SENSE.

The video is not available for viewing anymore.

However, I can safely say that this is not a Muslim practice (in other words, this bacha bazi is not something that is allowed, let alone promoted in Islam). Maybe it has something to do with a very fucked up Afghan culture, I don't really know.

Yeah, no one said it was a Muslim practice :anxious:

All I said was that in countries where Muslim law is enforced (Afghanistan, Pakistan, Iran, etc.), being gay/performing homosexual acts is generally a serious crime.

Oh no no, I was referring to the wikipedia's description of this activity, not anyone's comment.

That is really fucked up.

But I'm not that surprised, the economy of the country is destroyed and people there are really poor, with no much access to education. It could also be young girls prostituting themselves or being sold to a rich husband, massive raping of women at night... I dunno... It depends on the culture.

It's a sad thing that in the middle of conflicts, the most vulnerable are always children and women.

But again, that is really fucked up... This sort of "accepted" pedophilia with young boys that cross dress.

Y'see colour me stupid, but from watching the doc and missing the start, for a good 10 or 15mins I seriously thought that it was about the boys performance as dancers, most of them were dressed in capes but not effeminately, but then I started to notice some who were clearly meant to look feminine (Long hair, skirt, earrings) and started to think "Wait this is getting odd"... Then further into the doc I noticed some of the men seemed a bit touchy feely, but still not DEFO PEDOS. The narrator doesn't even really mention that it's actually sexual, it was when one of the men trying to reasonably explain about how being with a young boy can't be compared with horrible women, total WTF moment.

Though it's not that I thought getting young boys to dance was totally normal, but it's not as if it's provocative dancing. I think because like Josh, I thought homosexuality was totally barred there, so it was unbelievable that this was happening, but even crazier in somewhere like Afghanistan where it is illegal and people can be killed for being homosexual, and for this documentary just blatantly showing the men doing this and they go about it so naturally.

Really bizarre documentary but worth seeing.

What's the name of the documentary, Reilly?

It's called The Dancing Boys of Afghanistan, I saw it on More4 which is a UK channel, don't know if it's on DVD or anything.
