Do you think in complete sentences?

Featured Replies

This had never crossed my mind before but I've just been wondering about it because of some video I came across the other day. The person in it was making a huge deal about how they thought it was really strange to think in complete, coherent sentences. This kinda puzzled me because I've been thinking in whole sentences since as long as I can remember (and it's near impossible to make myself shut up). I thought it was normal to think that way but I guess I'm just a nutso? :anxious:

So yeah, in what way do you think? (in images, in sentences, or in general ideas, etc.)

I think in complete sentences as well :anxious:

I remember mainly in images or sounds.

Sentences most of the time, but occasionally in fragments. Not really any other way.

Fragments and sentences usually. Sometimes pictures. Sometimes sounds. Sometimes kinesthetic feelings, or whatever. If I'm thinking very hard words sort of go away and I feel like I'm moving stuff around instead. it's weird.

edit: ooh! when I remember things I remember smells a lot, and sounds and images. Less words in memory for me. forgot to mention.

Very much the same here.

It depends, really. I think in:

-complete sentences

-fragments

-images

I don't know if I necessarily think in sounds, so much as for the simple fact that because I live in a musical world, I always have music running around in my head. I have been known to hear random music in my head that doesn't even really apply to anything. I don't know. Sometimes (e.g. now) my wording isn't exactly how I want it.

On that tangent, when I do write, I really just write what I think in my head. Sometimes I don't really have words for what I'm thinking, so that's why I mess up on occasion. Most of the time, though, I know exactly what I want to say, so I think of how I would say something to someone if I were actually speaking, then put it down on paper.

I get the feeling that I've just run off on some weird topic not relevant to this one. Is this making sense? :freak:

you all think boring! all just words??

I can think of images too, but generally I think in words, like "I'm going to do this" or "I left that there", stuff like that. I can also imagine things (in images and words), like stories in my head

If I seriously need to knuckle down and think hard about something then I think in complete sentences

But if it's just the general thinking where you're just kinda drifting through random thoughts then it's more images and emotions and the sentences are more fragmented and i'll repeat the same words again and again

also, my grammar would be horrific

I don't finish the sentences. How can you think fast enough if you do? I can think very abstract as well, no sentences needed or just memories, like a film.

Video form, main idea, images... Actually, basically anything.

But sometimes it's just impromptu, it's like, it just gets into the head and boom! I got it. Which is why when I don't know how to answer a question, sometimes I just really don't know at all.

I can think in feelings :awesome:

oh wait...

feelings are completely foreign to me :|

But that might be what I do.

This.

And I sometimes narrate what I'm doing. :| It's really annoying. D:

I think in mush.

How's that like for you?

This.

Me too. :bomb:

I know what I'm thinking but I never actually here myself saying it in my head.

It's more of a feeling rather than thought.

think previous to verbalize it? i think i do it in word.

think as to do an action or something that need more develop or other skills (writing) i do on images & feelings, i guess.

like when i'm sleeping and i imagine this or that scene and dialog for a story i remember it for the scene image and the feelings it show me.

i think like that>> WTF? How r u? lol. rofl.

..just kidding.. i dont know how i do!!..
