Best Old Band.

The term "old" is to be perceived as you want it to be.

I normally don't enjoy outdated music.

But...

The Smiths forever. No contest.

There is plenty of examples of outdated music.

There are several examples of old music which are not outdated.

There is plenty of music now which is hollow and obviously won't be timeless.

There are examples of music now which will survive the test of time no doubt, although some of these haven't become apparent yet.

It's important to not care about when an album came from, but how good it is. There are certain themes you can dislike fro certain eras, but generally speaking, those themes don't run all the way through absolutely everything recorded at that time.

I couldn't possibly name one artist here as being the best as they all affect me in different ways since there is such a variety.

Yeah, I understand that.

For me personally though, I find I like a lot more modern music than older stuff. It's not like I'm not giving it a chance. That's just what I've found.

Yeah, I ranted quite a lot, it's just I read it that you saw Smiths music as outdated, just because it was old, even though you loved them.

I'll say Beatles and Bowie.

No, no. That's not what I meant. :)

The best? Genesis, no doubt (quite obvious, btw )

Some of the best: Yes, Pink Floyd, King Crimson, ELP, Supertramp, Black Sabbath, The Smiths, The Police.
