she's on now... my mom is watching her... she's actually calm

my mom is so pissed off right now

So basically the jury agrees with the defense's argument that Caylee drowned in the pool and Casey's dad hid the body. So does that mean charges are going to be brought against Casey's dad? I mean, SOMEONE needs to answer for this (although it really is supposed to be Casey).

I hope she gets the maximum sentence for each of the four counts of lying to police, whatever that is. Whenever she gets out of prison, she is going to be reviled by so many people.

She was found guilty of some other things though.

the smiling by the defense sickens me.

I just don't see how they could think she didn't murder her

NOT[/size][/b] GUILTY OF MURDER, CHILD ABUSE, OR MANSLAUGHTER WHAT THE *#$&!)(#!$*_%

That's pretty much my reaction, as well as my friends, from what I'm reading in my Facebook news feed. SO PISSED.

Oh, man. I'm afraid to go home and see my mom's reaction. She's going to be hella mad. :anxious:

I don't think it's that, so much as they felt like there wasn't enough evidence to convict her.

Yeah, the "lying to police" charges are only up to 1 year in prison for each count. Not much is going to hapen with that, I don't think. :|

It's stupid. They don't have any right to smile, especially not Jose Baez. Their exedcution is shoddy. That's why I'm particularly upset about the verdict. The defense case wasn't as great as it was supposed to be at all. They didn't substantiate ANYTHING they said in opening statements.

So yeah. NOT HAPPY.

guys i'm not sure but i think violet might be unhappy about this

my feeling exactly

and i don't see how she was found not guilty. :|

I think the vast majority of the country is baffled about that, honestly.

I can't help being angry at the jury. . . :|

Wow. My mom cried. SHE CRIED.

I don't know what to think about that.

can't wait to see Nancy Grace's reaction tonight :|

Did you see what she said?

" now Anthony can get a big fat book deal"

The verdict sickens me,I still can't believe it..

Apparently it was because they 'didn't have enough evidence.'

Wtf?

This is so disgusting!!! She will be out in time to party this weekend. I live in Orlando and I hope I NEVER see this horrible person anywhere.

Oh, and this was just announced by Prosecuting Attorney, Jeff Ashton....he is retiring! He has adopted two small children and this must have really affected him personally.

Not surprised.

She's a pretty white girl.

Jury trials aren't an effective means of rendering accurate judgments. Innocent people are put in prison for decades, all the time.

I started a topic recently about a guy who's facing more than 10 years in jail for marking the wrong box on his passport application.

These types of injustices occur more and more frequently toward the end of an empire, as the society becomes more sick.

What a bunch of brain dead fucking people. I'm livid about this.

I suppose now Casey will go live with her parents, even though her father "molested' her. She is a sociopath who will probably brag to people how she got away with murder. There's a special place in hell for her.

I guess if you want to get away with murder, go to Florida.

This verdict is DISGUSTING. I truly am shocked. Casey is there celebrating and smiling because her life was spared from a possible death sentence but Caylee's life was not spared. On her four other charges the maximum she will serve? *up to one year and she's already served three. It's a disgrace. There was no justice for Caylee today.

True. I have an uncle who suffered that sort of injustice. (Oddly enough, his case also took place in Florida. Funny how that works.)

Awwwww. That poor guy. It sucks to be him. :\

The defense did their job... the state did not..... I believe she is guilty, but the state didn't get that across!!!!

Just watching the "regular" news, it seems the issue is that although there was loads of evidence (the majority of which was circumstantial), the fact is that the autopsy could not prove the exact cause of death. Without that, the jury could not say that she definitely suffocated, and also could not say that she definitely didn't drown in the family pool. That is likely the sole place where the reasonable doubt is.

There is a good chance that all of the jurors believe in their gut that she did it, but they can't convict based on their opinion, they are only allowed to convict based on the evidence. The prosecution didn't meet their burden. Just because the jury felt they had to rule "not guilty", it by no means indicates that she's innocent.

In regard to sentencing, the maximum penalty for each of the 4 misdemeanor counts of lying to policy is 1 year each. She'll get credit for time already served (3 years), so the most amount of time she will serve from this point is 1 year. But she'll likely be serving in the eyes of public opinion for the rest of her life.

And even if at some point she says "oh yeah, I did it", she will never serve time for it.

I think the prosecution did a good job with what they had. Casey left her little girl's body to rot in her trunk. Then in the sun in a swamp while roots grew through her little body and animals fed on her. They did what they could with what was left of this child. Her countless lies, indicative of guilt. Waiting 31 days to report your child missing? Saying your nanny kidnapped her? A nanny that did not exist? I mean, I'm glad we're not a lynch mob but they let a murderer walk free today.
