  • Lol I haven't been here in 5 years but I decided to pop my head back in for some nostalgia. Seems like this was my last post so here's an update... I finally saw Radiohead live in Manchester in 2017 a

totally...i do give them a break, but it doesn't look good for the future, at all...

well i see your point!

definately they have LONG way to go.i mean they became really globally big on their second albums release for its content.then fans awaited as the third album came.and a massive tour commenced.i am gutted i didnt get to go,hmm yea they should tery doing some more spontaneous stuff each night, will excite the crowd.

Well I couldn't consider myself a true fan if I blindly loved everything the guys do. And it's not that I don't enjoy the Coldplay shows I go to. It's just.... They have a LOOOOOOOONG way to go before they're up to the same par that Radiohead is at. They're still a relatively young band, but that shouldn't be an excuse to take the easy way out each night. People like some intimacy, and sometimes that can come out with a setlist (it shows that the artists put thought into EACH show and not generalize every single one).

Sometimes I wonder if Coldplay plays gigs to get them done or to enjoy them.... :\

I don't think they will ever be where Radiohead is now...because they are NOT Radiohead. You can maybe say...Maybe one day COldplay will get to where U2 is because pop is their mutual category.

Coldplay is not anything LIKE Radiohead. Only in your hearts simply for the fact that, like was mentioned, Radiohead and Coldplay do different things for you.

I wish the comparisons between the two would end :disappointed:

we weren't comparing their music, we were comparing way they handle they music. that's a huge difference.

;)

well agreed....no bands are the same or have the same goals.

i just wish they would start to enjoy their music, fans and put that money behind.

You can't expect one band...to do the things the other band does. I mean...what is Coldplay thinking.. "danm...we gotta start doing our setlists like Radiohead or we will never have the fan love they do!" I mean..even thinkking about it won't make it work.

Our expectations can never be fufilled to their hightest point because artist don't take our wants and give them to us.

We take what they give and find tid bits of it to love.

i just wish they would start to enjoy their music' date='fans and put that money behind.[/quote']

see, but there is no way you can prove that they don't enjoy doing their music. Putting out redundant setlists does not mean that Coldplay doesn't like their music.

That is just the way they have chosen to do things.

no way...i said i want them to do music firstly and not money. radiohead isn't the only band that enjoys music this way. radiohead is just rare exmple that got famous..you get it? if coldplay has a chance to improve music and all and do opposite of this shit hole world obssesed with money then they should do it, just like radiohead and xy other bands do it.

see' date=' but there is no way you can prove that they don't enjoy doing their music. Putting out redundant setlists does not mean that Coldplay doesn't [i']like[/i] their music.

it's proven that automaticly doing same things over and over doesn't prove neither the fascination with it.;)

oh thats right.yes i man you dont set your goals to reach radiohead...i agree with that.hmm i do think the money has taken over a little, but i guess nobody knows except themselves its just because they have had such alot of money from this album.

its true bands have to do what the want..not what their fans want or the media etc.....radiohead dont listen to their fans..they do completely what the hell they want to do with the progression etc.sorry i go on about radiohead alot..but i adore them

i think it's quite opposite, cus if they weren't listening to fans they wouldn't go on this tour to try and see reactions of fans to the new stuff. unlike coldplay...

well thats true again! i mean why cant they mix some new material into their tour currently!? i mean the fans would love that much more i sould think rather than getting to hear their favorite classics. surely rthey have got some material...even if they have been busy of late

BUT you still can't prove that Coldplay's method and Radiohead's method has ANYTHING to do with money. I mean. some people say that part of Radiohead's famousness is with their purposley made mysterious characters. ...it's like a psychological game with fans and artists.

The more you know about them...the easier it is to get tired of them (i. e.. any rediculously hyped pop group)...

The less you know about them (or what things the band chooses to share) the more you WANT to know.

So maybe that scored a few points with fans.

Who knows what Radiohead thinks about the money...just because they say they don't care for it....doesn't mean a damn thing! And maybe they don't care for the money as first priority at all ...maybe you are right.

That is just it....these are all maybes and no one can prove anything..so it is best that we don't get carried away by our biased opinions and fanatical views..and be careful with making assumptions based on setlists. k

i'm sorry but this is just my point of view which with every day passing is proving more and more, at least for me..

as for proves..who can prove anything today? if radiohead was after money they wouldn't do okc or kid a, they just wouldn't, and they would make X&Y thing. as for less information more fans- there are 5 ppl in my town who have heard about radiohead, no one is interested in listening to them, just cus they don't have any articles in weekly tabloids...

actually one recent Coldplay setlist I saw had old songs like Trouble AND Green Eyes...something the RARELY play.

I loved finding that out because it is always an awesome surprise ..not only hearing a good song from their past...but hearing that song played live and played like a hidden treasure.

i think it's quite opposite' date=' cus if they weren't listening to fans they wouldn't go on this tour to try and see reactions of fans to the new stuff. unlike coldplay...[/quote']

but what if some of their fans want Radiohead to be more like Coldplay..does that mean that they have to do what the fans say and become more like Coldplay?

No.

Say a group of people thought that it was shit (what the band was playing) but another group of people thought it was the stars and mars (celestial) (awesome, in other words)

What are they do to?

This is it: they do what they want to do, make music that they themselves are facinated with.

I would never change my music it fit the musical styles of anyone else or to just this one group of people...just cuz they like it or don't like it...

that would be losing my passion for my musical mission.

you are rightfully entitled to your opinions

I wouldn't take that away from you

I am only stating mine as well.

that's the problem, coldplay fans and rh ones are not the same..we're a small group that exists, trust me.

fan who listen to rh liv with their belifes just like coldplay ones do.

well i agree with both of your opinions!!! i honestly do.i have nothing more to say now :laugh4: all i know is i like both coldplay and radiohead..

hah! Are you kidding me!? There are loads and loads of Radiohead fans ..there always have been. From the very beginning. And not just those that are like "yeah man, Radiohead are the shit...good stuff...brilliant..superb " and general things like that..those barely even count..

they are a breed of demi-fans.

I mean, there are tons of fans that really enjoy what Radiohead creates, stands for, and what Radiohead has done for the world of music. Real fans..there are LOADS of them.

Perhaps not in your stretch of land...but in other, equally nice places.

I love both bands. I didn't mean to compare them, or insinuate that I want Coldplay to BECOME Radiohead. Much to the contrary!!!! What I mean is.......

Well, at my Radiohead show every single song was a surprise to me. Maybe it's because I went in there naive, not knowing WHAT to expect. But I know that there were concert veterans who were just as shocked as I. I looked at a couple of setlists from the shows before the Boston one, but they didn't play ANYTHING remotely similiar to that. That's what I like. I don't want to know what a band's going to play by looking at the setlist from the day before.

I was incredibly emotionally invested into the Radiohead show. I felt kind of strange with Coldplay the second time. It was almost like I was going through the motions of it all.... I knew the call back during The Scientist, I knew exactly where in 'Politik' Chris would start to ad-lib. Perhaps the thing that saved the show from being totally ordinary was when Chris pulled a girl up during the acoustic set. But now that's becoming a gimmick with them as well.

I want Coldplay to grow into some spontaineity. They do have a fairly large back catalogue, three albums and lots of unreleased songs. That shouldn't be an excuse.

well i also agree with you!! you three have very good views what can i say!

by small grops i meant the group of fans that love both coldplay and radiohead, you misunderstood me..;)
