How to I convince my mom to let me go to other houses? ):

Featured Replies

My mom is really uptight she won't even let me read Harry Potter because she thinks it's ungodly or something. But anyways, all of my friends are visiting eachother in the summer and having fun and I'm just in my house doing nothing because my mom won't let me go anywhere.

She says that she doesn't trust anybody she doesn't know, and I can agree with that but I can't do homework assignments or just to simply hang out I'M SO BORED HERE UGH. She thinks that they're going to rape me or something or not take care of me and I'll drift off somewhere else.

I try to explain her that I can take care of myself and It's not like I'll be in the middle of the road and I know my friends and their parents and what are the chances that I'm friends with a person who has rapists as parents?

But she just gets angry and stubborn.

None of my friends invite me to their birthdays because they know I'm not allowed ):

THIS IS SAD PLEASE HELP ME ;__;

Is there any way you could ask your mum to invite friends over and then that way she would see that maybe they're not so bad. I am allowed to go to friends but I don't really have any close ones who would actually want to hang out with me.

She knows my friends, but not their parents. They all live kind of close by but I'm the only one who lives sort of far away.. but not that much like maybe less than 5 minutes in a car.

Awe~ I would love to hang out with you :wacko:

BUT MY MOM WOULDN'T LET ME ;_;

I would love to hang out with you also and all my internet friends ut they live so far away and flights are so expensive :(

one day I'll knock and your door and say 'hey anette's mum, I'm kat and me and anette are gonna go out someplace because thats what friends do'.

she should meet your friends' parents, it's the only way she'll let you hang out with your friends.

I did try that, once when I was trying to convince her I said "Okay mom, if you're so worried about rapist parents why don't you try to meet some of my friend's parents?"

And ohh, how nicely she responded;

"I don't have to be friends with your friends parents ok?"

UGGHH, and they invited me to go to a friends house today at four, and I asked her just right now, and she told me the usual and then I said "Mom, I KNOW that nothing will happen"

And she just ignored me.

How old are you? I'd simply go and prove her nothing bad will happen.

Eh, huh ah. I'm 14 :anxious:

I think I'm just going to talk to my mom and dad and explain to them how this decision is really making my life hard. My friends don't invite me to their parties because they know that I won't go. I feel like the little 6 year old of the group.

This advice might be redundant but... talk slowly and calmly. Even if things they say make your blood boil, don't let them know that and you'll solve the problem more easily.

:\ I feel bad about you...but I really don't know what to say (my parents were always pretty cool in that aspect) do you know why she doesn't let you go at least to birthday parties? Usually lots of people go, most of them your friends (right?), so the probabilities of someone hurting you would be minimal...

Why don't you try to ask your mom to speak with your friends' parents on the phone? That's what I used to do when my parents didn't know my friends :)
