"OH! I LIKE THAT BAND"

Featured Replies

How many songs do you have to like by a band to get the right to say, "I like that band."

Sometimes I debate whether I should like a bandpage on Facebook or not. If I've only discovered five songs I like from... lets say Coldplay, should I like their page on facebook?

Or you meet somebody and mention Coldplay and they say, "Oh, I love Coldplay!" but it turns out they only like two songs. DO YOU LIKE COLDPLAY? OR NO?

What do you bobbas think?

I have to like more songs than not to say I like a band. There are some bands where I only like one song and I still think of them as a shit band. If that makes sense...

Hm, what a question.

Me being a pretentious hipster I sometimes think twice when someone says that they like the band that's on my t-shirt or playlist or a song that I'm whisteling to. I think there are degrees (lolwut?) in liking a band.

"Oh they're okay I like this one song" 1 song.

"Hey, I kinda like that band" 3-6 songs

"I like that band" maybe an album and other songs.

"I really like that band!" Probably has most or all of their discography, depending like if they only have 4 albums then all but if they have 15 the probably 6 albums.

"I LOVE THAT BAND" Every song is existance.

But the question is, How many songs must you know/like to be considered a fan of them?

The answer is;

Don't give a fuck.

i don't know why i put it in spoiler lol so lory

There are certain bands that I know I like, but haven't been able to get into.

So, in that case, if I'm talking to someone and they ask, I say something like, "Yeah, I like them, but I've only heard a few of their songs. What album do you recommend?" or whatever.

But I'm never afraid to say I like a band or like one on Facebook. I don't hesitate, no matter what. Because I don't care that much.

This totally reminded me of how much I hate it when people say they like a band when they only know one song. /totally not helpful.

There are lots of shitty bands that I like the hit singles from and stuff like that. But I would never ever say I like the band.

I think it should be, like, over half of the songs by them that you've listened to, before you say you like them. Especially if you've heard more than one album. And you shouldn't count just hits and stuff, because a lot of the time the hits are good but the rest of their work is shit.

I love Viva La Vida and I am a Coldplay fan.

i think it depends, i mean is not the same say you like a band for 5 songs if they only had released a 12 track album (even when that is almost half their current discography), than if is from a legend artist that's been in music for long time: the beatles, pink floyd, rolling stones....

i normally listen the whole album and if i like most of it then yeah i say i like that band, but then some i just listen them from time to time even if i think they are better than the majority known artists, but from big bands at times i end listening just their hits or the ones i like even if i once liked and listened the whole album.

my cousins are the complete opposite, is so annoying when they say i like bla bla band when they only know two songs  much worst when they refer a whole genre or style so mistakenly.

but refered to facebook pages, i follow a good bunch of bands there, to be updated, some i like more some i like less, i don't think is a big thing to debate if follow a band on fb or not, if you like then, follow them even if you know them few, may you'll discover much good about them that way.

^I agree 100 %. :)

My cousins are the same. xD

"What is your favourite band?"

"Well, Coldplay! I like Clocks and Viva La Vida."

like = an album

really like = at least two albums worth

I only like bands with under 100 likes.

if there's one good song that cracks me open in an instant, maybe 1 is enough...

mostly it's like "oh that's a good song, let's see what else they've done.... aw cool... cool... good... like that.... yes... wow..." and it's going on...

^ Yeah, and if one song leads to that, then it's just fine. What's problematic is when you hear a song, fall in love with it, and say that you love the band in question without even caring to look into all the wonderful stuff they may have.

What do you bobbas think?

I just noticed this, hurr

i hope you guys realise that pop music is a completely different thing to what you guys are used to. It's all based around singles, so yeah, if you like one song you pretty much do like the band...

VLV is a pop song.

that doesn't make sense does it

First, I'd like to say that this thread is getting a little random.

Second, I'd like to submit my opinion:
