MX, HLH, Charlie Brown, M.M.I.X., UATW, UFO, UIF, A Hopeful Transmission, Don't Let It Break Your Heart, and Up with the Birds.

 

I didn't expect to like this many songs, but they are good stuff.

Most positive probably is that this album is not to Viva, what X&Y was to A Rush of Blood and Parachutes. It's something new.

Thought I'd join this thread cuz I don't particularly like the album on first listening. Positives for me are:

 

* It's another Coldplay album. Hey we're all fans. They're still a great band and this gives us more to listen to.

 

* It's a change of direction again. Sure most groups change a bit and they get slated when they don't but there's a few more styles added to Coldplay from this.

 

* Most of the songs are brilliant ideas IMO. If produced differently I think I'd love it even more than A Rush of Blood.

 

* Hopefully they keep Hurts Like Heaven and Charlie Brown fast and don't mess with the vocals when they perform it live because they're great anthems.

 

* Don't Let It Break Your Heart is brilliant.

I'm listening to it for the first time now :)

I actually really like their lyrics this era, they did a really good job.

I also like how they didn't do the sellout "faces plastered on album cover".

The songs are catchy.

It's loud and upbeat, it seems like a good beginning to something (or end :( ).

And...

My god, I love this album (thought I wouldn't actually).

 

Highlights:

 

- Mylo Xyloto, which sounded gorgeous, going on to HLH.

- Charlie Brown, especially the beautiful piano ending to the ...

- ..epic opening of UATW, which is beautiful by the way.

- M.M.I.X. is the perfect intro for ETIAW, it really 'builds' something up.

- Princess Of China has beautiful lyrics and I'm not lying when I say I think Rihanna did a very good job. I really like this one.

- Up In Flames is beautiful, breathtaking.

- Don't Let It Break Your Heart sounds to me a bit old school Coldplay. Like it.

- The absolute best track on the album is the last one: Up With The Birds. My god, goosebumps all over the place. Brilliant. Beautiful.
