Heinrich42
Hey guys! Well, I was listening to the album and I noticed that in three songs they mention some kind of light. Take a look. Charlie Brown: "I saw the lights go down at the end of the scene, I saw the lights go down and standing in front of me..." Every Teardrop is a Waterfall "As we saw, ohh this light, I swear you, emerge blinking into, to tell me it's all right..." U.F.O.: "And that light, hits your eye..." Also, pay attention to the articles: the lights this light that light The songs are always talking about a specific light or lights. Do you think that might have something to do with the story? Or am I going too far?
samerater
Well like Chris said, the album is all about turning a bad situation into a good one... turning dark into light. I think it's as simple as that.

rafaelchampion
Light is freedom. Light is the feeling of adrenaline, the feel that you can do whatever you want
Nikola
No Illuminati crap, I keed. :D The lights have different meaning in those 3 songs: CB: LSD ETIAW: Hope UFO: Actual light. :dozey:
Prospector
CB: LSD :dozey: How did you get to that conclusion?
Nikola
How did you get to that conclusion? It's pretty clear it's about dugs: Stole a key Took a car downtown where the lost boys meet Took a car downtown and took what they offered me To set me free I saw the lights go down at the end of the scene Saw the lights go down and standing in front of me I never tried LSD but I know it makes you see crazy lights, hallucinate and shit... :D Where is that picture of an "alien" in your avatar from? rafaelchampion
It's a "C" and a "P" united. It's from the big mural
Nikola
Well doesn't it look like an alien to you? :inquisitive: I sooo want an "alien-something" song as a B-side after Car Kids. :awesome:
Prospector
Where is that picture of an "alien" in your avatar from? It's from the graffiti wall, down on the left. And take a look at Will's grafitti on this video [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FrA0MugKcLs]Coldplay - Anton Corbijn Pre-show (UNSTAGED) - YouTube[/ame] arround 5:48 and 6:00 minutes EDIT: I've always seen it as an alien
rafaelchampion
Listen, I guess there was never an "Alien" theme on the recording. "Alien Radio", maybe? No, it does not mean Alien, but alienation. And about U.F.O., it's not about spaceships, but someone who is lost and can't find his 'place', his 'home'. And that thing in the middle of the album cover is not an alien head either, it's a heart. IDK, it's my guess...
Prospector
Yeah, I think the UFO, and Alien things could be something like an metaphor for feeling alone, different, away form home.
Nikola
^ Cool! So CP could mean ChamPion maybe? And yes, it's clear that UFO is about alienation. ;) As for the "alien song" I want, it would be kinda silly if they sang about actual aliens, I'm more interested in an experimental sound that kind of song should have... Tryptophan
Lights and stars and heavens have always been themes in Chris' lyrics. I'm not saying it's merely a coincidence but keep that in mind.
