Hi everyone,

I made a cover of Don't Panic (inspired by the Glastonbury-version of 2005) and I'm really not sure about my singing. I think it's not bad, but I have no clue about singing techniques or something like that so I thought I'll ask you guys and let you judge. Is this good or am I wearing the rose-tinted glasses?

Thank you so much for your feedback! I often thought about singing lessons, but the idea of having someone who tells you what to do is kinda not what I like to have. Maybe this is a stupid imagination I have, but sometimes I think learning from a teacher means learning what your teacher does, i.e. it's hard to develop an own style. I sometimes see this with people who learned guitar or something from a teacher. (I'm glad I learned all my instruments by myself).

It's a beautiful rendition, well done! Nice harmonica playing as well. Your singing is very good, excellent range, maybe a little higher highs, more variation, deeper intonation, a little more feeling in it would bring out and highlight the emotional aspects, and more singing volume, a little less for the harmonica, but otherwise, very well done!! Have you been taking lessons from Bob Dylan by any chance? You may be right - learning from a teacher can lead to singing the way the teacher instructs, but many great musicians have taken lessons and still retain their unique sound, so I would imagine there are some excellent instructors out there. Or, perhaps you could just do more analysis of your recordings to hone your own skills, and study singing techniques separately to retain your own style while improving the unique strengths of your voice. Keep getting stronger lungs, belt out those tunes!

Thanks again! Do you have any tips for exercises to get stronger lungs or maybe a good "tutorial" online where I can find some good tips how to practice without a singing teacher?
