December 10, 201114 yr Coldplay fans are numerous and different in many ways, but there must be a common denominator. Is there a trait we all share? I've come to the conclusion that many of us became fans when we needed FIXING in some point of our lives. Do you think that's true? There are, of course, people who just listen to them for the awesome music, and girls who like them for their hotness. :D But the difference between someone who just listens to their music and a hardcore fan I think comes from that particular reason. If you don't think we are similar because of that, is there any other thing you think we have in common? Feel free to be cheesy...
December 11, 201114 yr Author C'mon peoples, 42 views, no answers? Maybe this is just too obvious... :| Anyway, I'm in a weird place in my life this year. But then MX came along like a ray of light and it just suits me perfectly...

Same here, hadn't played any of my Coldplay albums in so long (years) and MX came along at just the right time and lifted me up
December 11, 201114 yr I became a fan in 2008 when VLV came out and I was going thru some health problems... Listening to the music and especially becoming obsessed with them and the coldplaying site really did help me.
December 11, 201114 yr I think something a lot of coldplayers have in common is that Coldplay provides music that suits us. I know in my case, I had almost no musical identity before I found Coldplay-I just didn't really like a lot of music I heard. It also seems like the optimism in the music really appeals to the fans-I hear a lot of people compare their feelings for Coldplay to being lifted, healed etc. I know the music makes me feel a lot better about things
December 11, 201114 yr Actually yeah, I liked this guy and it was sad and i cried all day all night and i listen fix you and i was ok chris fix me and he did with his viva la vida and outta control hair yeah
December 11, 201114 yr Speed Of Sound. I first heard it a week after the single came out. X&Y blew my mind! (except The Hardest Part. That's Crap.) I'm a LP3 boy!
December 11, 201114 yr I can't vote because there isn't any one reason why I like this band. There are lots and lots of reasons.. probably ALL of the options above, plus more..
December 11, 201114 yr It all began with hearing their ooohooooh's in VLV, that made me the crazy Coldplay fan I am today:D
December 11, 201114 yr Author The survey options suck. Yes. There is nothing I can vote on. Actually, I think the question sucks. Should have been just a question mark. If you want to elaborate on why you became a fan, there is this thread: http://www.coldplaying.com/forum/showthread.php?t=91039 I wanted to concentrate on the "fixing part" cos I thought I was onto something. :bigcry:
December 11, 201114 yr Author edit: herp No, no... No. Coldplay helps you though failed relationships and stuff. It does not cure herpes. Get your nasty ass to a doctor.
December 11, 201114 yr Author I'm struggling to figure out what part of me needs FIXING? Well, neither do I right now. But if you just look at some songs from one album, let's say AROBTTH. Look at the lyrics: Give me one, 'cause one is best In confusion, confidence Give me peace of mind and trust Don't forget the rest of us Give me strength, reserve control Give me heart and give me soul Wounds that heal and cracks that fix Tell me your own politik --------------------------------- In my place, in my place Were lines that I couldn't change I was lost, oh yeah And I was lost, I was lost Crossed lines I shouldn't have crossed I was lost, oh yeah --------------------------------- Where do we go? Nobody knows I've got to say I'm on my way down God give me style and give me grace God put a smile upon my face --------------------------------- Come up to meet you, tell you I'm sorry You don't know how lovely you are I had to find you Tell you I need you Tell you I set you apart Tell me your secrets And ask me your questions Oh, let's go back to the start Running in circles Coming up tails Heads on a science apart Nobody said it was easy It's such a shame for us to part Nobody said it was easy No one ever said it would be this hard Oh, take me back to the start ---------------------------------- The lights go out and I can't be saved Tides that I tried to swim against Have brought me down upon my knees Oh I beg, I beg and plead, singing Come out of things unsaid Shoot an apple off my head and a Trouble that can't be named A tiger's waiting to be tamed, singing ---------------------------------- And so on... More than 50% of their songs are about being lost in some way. About failed relationships, about death... I don't think you can relate to them if you haven't been in those situations.
December 11, 201114 yr No, I don't like Coldplay because they sing about fixing. I don't need fixing. I also don't fancy any of them or ever did.

To my surprise, Coldplay had a new CD come out not even a month afterwards and I quickly became a fan. Like, within a week.
