Featured Replies

Since my went into the crapper, Im getting a used one in Gamestop. I want a Classic with atleast 30 gb but I dont know which Generation is better. Or maybe I shouldn´t get a classic at all.

THOUGHTS DISCUSS DEBATE

I've had a shuffle, a touch, and two iPod classics (one I bought about a month ago). I got my touch after the first classic got destroyed by my computer. And someone stole my touch. I got another classic mainly because of the space, and I never used the apps. I guess when it comes to iPods now you have to choose between internet/apps or space. :)

It depends what you want to use it for, if you want something which is just basically a music player than the iPod Classic is hard to beat, 160GB hard-drive. If you want something smaller to use than get a last generation Nano (the ones before the stupid touch-screen model).

Guys I need help,

My 1st Gen ipod nano is on it's last legs and the backlight died ages ago then magically returned then I dropped it when I was going on my bike and it died again, plus I have filled it.

I want an ipod Classic but they are soo expensive and I was wondering if it's worth getting a second hand older version rather than the new one?

Take your old iPod to the Apple Store first, they might be able to fix it.

I don't really know if it's worth getting a second hand one. I was looking at second hand iPads on eBay a few weeks ago and they're still very expensive. I wouldn't take the risk unless it was very cheap but maybe I'm just being paranoid.

I've found a brand new one that's only £159 so I'm gonna get that one :awesome:

and it has a year warranty

1st Gen so at least 5 years old, even if you could get it repaired the battery life must not be that great, it will probably be cheaper to get a newer one than a repair.

Just bought a new one, but it's not coming until the end of February :blank:

You got a new one but it's not coming until the end of Feb?

That's one hell of a long delivery time

If you really have a 1st generaton Ipod nano: http://www.apple.com/support/ipodnano_replacement/

Otherwise, I have the 160GB Classic. My only complaint is that mine randomly makes really high pitch whining noises when it loads stuff. Not sure why. I like that it has a lot of storage, though.

The high pitch whine will be the sound of the hard-drive spinning up to speed

Dave, I need advice bro

my ipod came today and it keeps making this squeeky sound when it's loading and I wondered if it was normal, or if it meant there was a problem with the hard drive?

Might be a problem with the hard-drive, like the iPod has been dropped at some point damaging one of the small bits inside. Speak to the person you purchased it from, and if your not happy you still got the 7 days Distance Selling Regs to reject the iPod (assuming you purchased it from a UK company).

A whirling noise as the disc spins up is common as it's a proper hard-drive which spins quite fast.

I have the first gen ipod touch which is great, but my only complaint is the volume which isn't loud enough for me

Tip: If you´re getting a used iPod try to ask the history or something apparently mine freezes every so often..

Since my went into the crapper

Your what into the crapper?

Well... that's not very useful because the salesperson may lie just to get a sale. It happens

What you mean, freezes? Just won't do anything at all?

Oh and wat model d00d

If you buying a 2nd hand iPod from a shop and ask for the history most likely the sales person will say "I don't know, someone sold it to us a couple weeks ago and it passed the tests".

i use my ipod touch for almost everything. i have an 8 gig nano that i filled up, but i now use it when i go to a festival or an outdoor event and leave the itouch at home. (basically, i would be dissapointed, but not heart-broken, if i lost the nano, but very very upset if i lost my itouch)

make sure you compare the prices at gamestop to the refurbished products on apple's website... the refurbished ones can run pretty cheaply priced, are put through a lot of tests by apple, and have a 1-year warrenty
