Facebook ♥ Coldplay? New Ad Launch Makes It Look That Way

Jim Edwards | 9 hours ago | 236 |

Facebook used Coldplay's Page to tout its new Timeline-oriented update to Pages.

Coldplay isn't one of CEO Mark Zuckerberg's favorite bands, if his fan page is any guide. So it's a mystery why this group was chosen to illustrate the new product.

Coldplay is, of course, hugely popular with marketers and ad agencies—its catchy, earnest, important-sounding but inoffensive ditties have scored many a commercial, most recently for Chipotle.

Why is everyone having such bizarre first posts recently?

This guy's first post is copying and pasting a sentence written by Coldplaymom.

Some other guy's first post was telling everyone the barometer readings from Romania.

Loads of other pages have the timeline, not just them

Right, but the point of the article is that it's Coldplay's that was chosen.:)

And this from Coldplay's facebook

We're very pleased to be one of the launch pages for Facebook's snazzy new Timeline feature - http://www.facebook.com/coldplay

And Coldplay tweet

We're one of the launch pages for Facebook's snazzy new Timeline feature - check it out at http://www.facebook.com/coldplay now. A

So obviously they are pleased they were chosen and consider it news to share with fans.
