No, I'm pretty sure he was being serious! :wreck:

I know, I laid awake for like an hour that night just staring at the ceiling and hoping that the guys weren't going to take that direction for LP6

I'll see if I can find you a link . . .

Well, I actually think that would turn quite interesting. :escaping:

Lots of other great musicians listen to dubstep (Dave Grohl listen a lot to it, for example)

I think he meant he listens to it so that he knows what other music people listen to these days. Not necessarily to get inspiration from them, but to judge who their competition is, so to speak. Or at least I hope that's the case :uhoh:

I remember there being a similar situation last year when Chris said something similar about Justin Bieber. I just really hope LP6 doesn't end up with some sort of collab with JB or Skrillex...

Imagine if the first single of LP6 is like: "I'm gonna break this woooooorld wooooob woooooob waaaaaaaaaaaab waaaaaaab buuuuuuuuuhssssss buuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuhhhhhhssssss

to me, it would be awesome :|

....even if I don't like dubstep :|

I really, really hope you're right *rocks back and forth*

But you're Enoxificated, Mark :P

I did too whenever I first heard that :bigcry: I think it was in an interview about them coming to Australia in November where the interviewer asked him what sort of music they'd been listening to recently . . . and Chris said Skrillex :bomb:

baAhAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAA eopwfdwefih pmywe omg

Anyway, what I mean is that if LP6 is influenced by dubstep, it doesn't mean that the album is going to be exclusively dubstep. For example, there could be more percussion based songs, maybe heavier bass line a bit more of electronic instrumentation but they would still remain Coldplay.

I still want an ambient album though :|

This. We can trust them to do something great. Isn't their motto to turn something ugly into something beautiful ?! :wacky:

And you know what, MX still sounds like Coldplay (I've told that story a thousand times already, but my sister, who thinks every Coldplay song sounds the same, heard PRINCESS OF CHINA and told me that it still sounds like any other Coldplay songs. So, as long as she keep telling me that, I think we're safe  ). I'm sure they'll do something great for their LP6, and listening to an artist doesn't mean automatically making the same music.

Oh, and I have a feeling that the Foo Fighters collab with Skrillex at the Grammys has something to do with it...Chris! Do not let Dave Grohl get to you!

!

If this happens I'm jumping ship and waiting for the (probably never to be made) Jonny Buckland solo album, lol.

And think they aolready use enough electronic instruments. Much more is going to be too 'plastic' for my taste, but yes, an Ambient album could be nice.

I think that's it.

As a huge Foo fan, that genuinely pissed me off! After Dave talking about making their album on a tape machine, that collab felt like a betrayal!

!

Why synths are demonized so much? They can be better than "traditional" instruments, if used propely

Exactly. If used properly. Few bands do that, imo. Paradise is already a little too hip-hop for me. When I first heard ETIAW,the opening made me think it was Black Eyed Peas, FFS! Until I heard Chris, I didn't know it was Coldplay.

 You have no idea how badly I want LP6 to be their Rock album :dazzled: Packed full of songs like Violet Hill and Politik and How You See The World and Major Minus and God Put A Smile Upon Your Face and . . . *trails off awkwardly*

I love ETIAW's synth line

This. thisthisthis. Just--EVERYTHING. UGH.

The amount of synths / ambience in Viva was perfect.

. . . But there's just too much of it in MX :blank:

Anyway...

the more Enoxificated the better

I'd adjusted to it. And I love the rest of the band on it now. But it still is my least favorite Coldplay song. But to each their own. :)

Anyway...

This might seem random, but I could swear that I've seen your avatar as an emoticon on a forum somewhere . . .

I love ETIAW's synth line

I'm fine with the synth line--it sounds good with the song and it's not overpowering the other instrumentation . . . unlike some other songs on the album :blank:

But I can't stand the lyrics

I always though that the ETIAW main riff was playe not with a simple synth but more like a filtrated piano because it sounds a bit more organic to me.

Anyway, what if they do a Depeche Mode-esque album (where synths are omnipresent but they create majestic melodies)

I'd really love that

 y tammi

because every band needs a horn section obv

Just the opposite for me. It sounds so tinny to my ears.

Now THAT I would like to hear! I love DM as well as New Order. That's how synths should be used, imo.
