My favorite Olde English word is queynte

 

Here is an exceerpt from Chaucer's "The Wife of Bath's Tale" from The Canterbury Tales.

 

 

 

Over time, "queynte" evolved into what we know in modern English as "****"

 

You shall have queynte at eve :angry:

I had a whole medieval english lit course devoted to that word. The teacher was later let go for undisclosed reasons :blank:

Those aren't actually my faves, just can't think of them until I use them. I do like lugubrious, aporetic, and elenchus though.

(this is the french word for "dick", it just sounds beautiful to me, I don't know why :disappointed:)

My favorite French phrase is Je Reviens

I don't have a favourite English word although I really like cute.

 

Fingerspitzengefühl is my favourite German word.

(there isn't a really good Dutch translation for that word so we just use fingerspitzengefühl)
