Getting to see...

Featured Replies

Coldplay.

I've heard of some people going to some lengths to see them, I'm flying a couple of hours from Adelaide to Sydney for the pure joy of seeing them live, and I've seen that a few devout coldplayers are travelling from as far as Singapore and even Seoul.

What is the most inconvenience you have driven yourself through for something Coldplay related?

I remember walking for an hour and back again to a CD shop to get the ITunes credit to get MX a day earlier than I would have otherwise. Why? I do not know.

I hadn't eaten for 15 hours (and I eat all the time) and was standing up for 11hours waiting for Coldplay at the Ricoh, I also got told off by a security officer in there for sprinting towards the stage when I got in there :awesome: I was about 6ft away from Jonny and Chris so it all came good

I know it's not big flights but oh well haha

I haven't been a "die-hard" fan for very long, so I don't think I can answer this yet

For now, I'd say travelling to Paris (which isn't near where I live AT ALL) on my own a day before the concert, and arriving at the venue a bit before 7 am (I took a cab, oh, and at about 5.45am I went inside a train station to get a ticket for the RER to go back at the hotel after the gig...and I was SCARED! Not very recommendable people hang out there at this time of day...).

Also, I stayed up pretty much all night to watch the Grammys live this year on TV (2 am in France...)...and we know how the Grammys went for Coldplay...

I'm only a fan since december 2011 when I saw them for the first time live in a city only an hour away from my home so that's not very impressive (we waited 3 ours in the rain, wich at that moment was terrible:P)

but the 2nd show i saw was the malieveld the hague show 6 sept and I was REALLY TERRIBLY sick and waited from 11 in the morning til 9 in the evening while being really sick and vomitting during clocks. But it was all worth it :D

Having my kids (13&15) stand on their feet for 7hrs in a sea of people just to watch Coldplay.

Understand if you don't wanna say but you sound like my friends mum.... What are your kids names?

Can't put their names in here but we're in the US not in the UK.:)

They will thank you someday.

And I bet you vomiting during Clocks made other people love you so much :wink3:

I think there are a LOT of people who have done a lot to see them. I'm VERY small fry by comparison, but I have flown to Chicago and Holland this year from the UK to see them (and some VERY good friends   - miss you all!). I'd do them both again tomorrow if I could. (although not at the same time obviously!).

During the concert at The Gofferpark in Nijmegen(2009) I had to hold my pee for about 8 hours because I didn't want to leave my spot:P

How far?

So I was wondering earlier: how far would I travel to see Coldplay? (the answer? The other side of the world :laugh3:)

So I wanted to ask all you lovely Coldplayers: What is the furthest you have already been to go and see the band? For me (so far) it has been Sweden, an approximately 2 hour flight, and I'm now considering going to somewhere like Brazil or Argentina (if I somehow find enough money! :P)...

Your thoughts/experiences? :happy2:

In December 2010 I won at auction a ticket to the Crisis Hidden Gig in Liverpool. Was supposed to fly from New York to Amsterdam to Liverpool but the NY - Amsterdam flight was cancelled! I almost gave up on the whole trip when I managed to get the LAST seat on the LAST flight to London Heathrow before a snowstorm hit. They closed the airport the minute my plane landed. I grabbed a taxi to Euston Station and managed to get on a train to Liverpool! My luck then changed as the gig turned out to be right across the street from my hotel and I was able to meet Chris afterward! (And this was less than a month since I'd gone to the UK for the boat trip that turned into the "Christmas Lights" video shoot. Yes, I'll do a lot for my band!)

Three years ago, I flew from Southern California to Tampa, Florida for the very last Viva la Vida show. Unfortunately, while my plane was in the air, the show was cancelled. In April this year, I had a last minute chance to see them in San Jose, 400 miles from my home. I drove 6 hours up to that show. In June this year, I did Florida- Take 2. Once again, I flew from CA to FL (for those of you unfamiliar with United States geography, it's a 5 1/2 hour flight and across the entire US) to see then in Tampa (thanks again, Tracey!). Tracey, her daughter and I then drove 280 miles, 5 hours, from Tampa to Miami to see them the next night. I know there are many who have traveled from the US to Europe and beyond to see them, too.

I've never traveled very far to see them, but I nearly choked to death because of Coldplay. :|

No seriously, when the gates to the front section opened at Pinkpop last year, there was A LOT of pushing back and forth. Still it seemed like no one was getting any closer to the gates. We were stuck in a crowd, getting crushed. People were screaming, crying, panicking... I couldn't breathe and I seriously thought: 'This is it. I'm going to die.' It was one of the scariest things I ever experienced.

And then, after about ten minutes, we suddenly were at the gate and got through.

I still don't feel 100% comfortable in large crowds.
