New music: Modestep unveil video for Coldplay cover 'Paradise'

 

Ahead of their eagerly anticipated debut album, Evolution Theory, dub-step rockers Modestep have released a new video to tease fans.

 

The video's for the band's cover of Coldplay's 'Paradise', and has already received a warm reception on Hype Machine where it is currently number one on the site's Popular Now list (which means 3.8k people have 'liked' the song).

 

The cover sees Modestep rework the Coldplay classic with choruses of plummeting bass and hefty snare snaps. The track is available for free download on the band's Soundcloud page.

 

The video features vocalist Josh Friend walking down a road a night while traffic rushes by, and serves to intensify the atmosphere of the band's version of the song.

 

Modestep had its genesis in 2008 when brothers Josh and Tony Friend started Modestep Radio to showcase their dubstep productions. By 2010 they were writing their own material and had become an internet hit.

 

They became a fully fledged band in 2011, taking their live dub-step to the stage and following in the footsteps of bands like Coda and Submotion Orchestra.

 

Their first album Evolution Theory is released on January 14 and will feature singles 'Sunlight', 'Show me Sign' and 'To The Stars'.

Absolutely love beginning, the dubstep part has nothing to do with paradise...

I think they shouldn't make a dubstep version of every song

I like it, it's not entirely my cup of tea, but it's nice to listen(Mostly because the song itself is already a masterpiece:))

the beginning is beautiful!

overall - not my favorite genre of music, but I enjoy seeing so many different types of artist covering Coldplay's songs. that shows respect and it gives us different versions of the songs to enjoy.

I love it! Awesome cover, they made it their own without killing it.

Liked the opening, but the dubstep don't.
