Gift for Christmas/maternity leave?

Featured Replies

Hi!

Soooooo my orchestra teacher is leaving at the end of next week when we leave for Christmas break. It'll also be her last week here because of maternity leave til next September when school starts again. I might not be here next year because I could possibly be going to another school, but either way, I am moving grades, therefore I won't have her as a teacher anymore.

What should I get her? She really is passionate about music and her baby is going to be a boy. She already has a new baton that she used at Thursday's winter concert, so that's out of the question.

PLEASE HELP ASAP! Thanks!

I don't understand, what do you get out of this?

Nothing really, except making my teacher happy.

Maybe, you could give her something she could use in her job (unless she's picky about it and would rather choose it herself) or something (music-themed) for her baby. Also, write her a nice card saying how you think she helped you (I assume it's true, since you want you to give her a gift) and thank her for it :)

why dont i just make a thread of which pants to buy, dark red or yellow?

see now dark red pants are great but quite common in this day and age so maybe it's best to go for yellow

The teacher already got a new baton, and that's pretty much all she needs. That part actually made me look up batons, I always thought they just used long pencils or broken pool cues.

I think that's really all you need, you made a thread about it so it's clearly important to you, so just make it clear in a card the importance this teacher has had on you. The present can be secondary if even necessary, chocolates, yellow pants, whatever, she'll keep the card.

Of course if you already planned a super nice card but wanted a great present along with it then we're back to square one.

Well... a lot of pregnant women find new hobbies to do because they need to be occupying time, cos they can't be getting up and sprinting around, you know? So maybe give her an arts and crafts thing she can do? Or some brainteaser? Maybe make her a mixtape of music she can listen to? Make a little book of all the reasons why you appreciate her and get other people to write stuff as well? I don't know

Better to give her something handmade or inexpensive than spending money on something she won't use

EDIT: Oh is maternity leave after you've given birth? Oh. Uhhhh

Actually yellow pants are very mainstream, every time I go to the mall they're completely sold out

It's always best to look unique :D:D

I suppose anything music-themed will work just fine. Right before I finished student teaching, I gave the directors I worked with a little music memento they could hang on their wall. They really appreciated them, and it didn't cost much, either, as I got them at the dollar store. At any rate, I'm sure she'll appreciate the sentiment of you thinking of her. :nice:

since you followed my art blog, print out an image with my credit and tell her more about my crappy art
