MICHAELSD
Don't get me wrong: I absolutely love "A Sky Full of Stars" although I feel the song could be that much better if the band had devoted as much time to the lyrics as they did the beat. Here are the lyrics with "a sky full of stars" removed... I'm gonna give you my heart 'Cause you light up the path I don't care, go on and tear me apart I don't care if you do I think I saw you I wanna die in your arms I'm gonna give you my heart You're such a heavenly view Lyrics are really lacking and shallow on the surface. It's a shame because of how great "A Sky Full of Stars" is otherwise. The vocals on this track almost make up for it...
Radiokopf
You're completely right. All Ghost Stories lyrics are quite ridiculous, but it all has to do with the separation with Gwyneth. I think and hope the next album will have better lyrics, maybe even the (hopefully) upcoming EP will have better ones.
MICHAELSD
It's even worse if you remove repeating lyrics. I'm gonna give you my heart 'Cause you light up the path I don't care, go on and tear me apart I don't care if you do I think I saw you I wanna die in your arms You're such a heavenly view 7 original lines + ASFOS in the entire song. By comparison a single verse in Yellow was 11 poetic lines. ASFOS is still extremely catchy though.
MosesTheMarshmallow
Quantity is a tricky game IMO. Don't Panic, Spies, and Trouble have very few unique lines for example. But of course, in terms of quality, the lyrics are a little cheesy. But also, I love Chris's delivery of these lyrics. The "I don't care" has such loud clarity that we don't see from him often. The "youuuuuuuuu" is also very unique. I think ETIAW is a better song lyrically by far as an analogous song on the previous album - jumpy, synthy, guitarry...ETIAW actually has a story (painted within the words) whereas ASFOS is a bit stay-in-one-place with its lyrics. charliebrown0012
However the euphoria this track brings is way on par with Yellow , VLV Paradise, Fix You, Clocks and Fix you
Batman
Chris should just invent an "Hopelandic 2.0" so that nobody will ever judge his lyrcis ever again lol
