I had an interesting night.

The original plan was to go see the Unicorns, who, as some of you may know, are an awesome band. My friend, who lives outside the city, drove in and met me at my place, then we had some dinner and walked to the venue, which was only about a 25 minute walk away.

When we get to the venue, we get inside, and Phil starts complaining that he has that "pins and needles" feeling all over his entire body. I ask if we should go down the street and get a bottle of water (it's a really small venue that will let you back in if you leave), so he says yeah, and we make it around the corner when he's hit with a wave of dizziness and sinks to the ground. I ask if he's ok, he says yes, then about a minute after he's stood up again, it happens again. He lays down on the sidewalk (keep in mind it's 25 degrees F out and most things are currently covered in snow or salt), and about 10 minutes later, tries to get up again, and this time loses consciousness completely and hits the ground. Hard. He comes to almost immediately but can't form words for another few minutes. At this point I'm freaking out, and of course my cell phone had broken the day before, so I can't call 911. A guy who works at the venue see what's happening, so he and I get him off out of the way and let him lay down, we give him our coats and call and ambulance, etc.

The ambulance arrives shortly, and my friend is looking and acting a little better, but he's still afraid to stand up again. We're riding to the hospital, and the medic is asking him if he'd been drinking taking drugs, etc., and he replies, "No, I haven't done anything harmful to my body... oh wait, I got stabbed earlier today." So I can admire his sense of humor throughout the whole thing.

Anyway, we get there, the ambulance guys make a remark about a film crew at the hospital (apparently the CBS show "Hack" is filmed practically in my backyard and I had no idea), and the people there have no idea what's wrong with my friend. Their best guess is that the extreme cold during the walk over combined with the immediate warmth of going inside made his blood vessels expand rapidly. Sounds plausible to me, because I know nothing about that kind of thing.

So we take a cab back here, and now he's asleep downstairs (obviously he didn't feel up to driving home tonight after that whole ordeal), and hopefully he'll be ok tomorrow.

That was my night. How was yours? :P

:stunned: ....different

hope he`s ok

wow, that was like a jam packed adventure, hope your buddy is feeling better.

I watched a tribute on Freddie Mercury last night and it was wonderful, and that's about all I did

that's scary about the extreme cold and extreme hot thing. i know that sometimes after being outside for a bit and coming inside i feel awful, i guess that explains it.

*shrugs* i guess. i was fine though, and i even stood outside for 20 minutes with no coat on waiting for the ambulance to come...

:o Im glad that now he is ok!!! Well ....I gone to the supermarket and to the mall with my mother and sister.

i have been getting headaches this week due to changing from extreme cold to warm indoors. booooo.

:o Spooky night huh ? Glad to know he´s feeling better :)

My night was okay... stayed online working on a new layout for my personal website... :dozey: Yes, I´m nerd, so what?

:stunned: :/ I hope he's ok :embarrased:

i don't think he ended up going to the concert

  • Author

no i sure as hell didn't end up seeing the concert.

oh well, as far as i can tell, my bud is just dandy.

  • Author

well, on the bright side, the ticket only cost me 8 bucks... so it's not like i lost a lot of money or anything. but given the choice between staying with one of my best friends when he needs it the most and saying "well, seeya, i have a concert to enjoy," i think i might the right decision. :P
