Album scales

Featured Replies

Hey, so i've been learning some Coldplay songs on the piano and i found that some albums have their particular scale,

is it normal, is it to make the album "fit together" or to have its own unique sound?

Could you expand on that? Interested to hear what you have to say.

I don´t know, its just that on each Coldplay album (i don´t know about a Head full of dreams) theres allways a scale that is in almost every song, in Mylo Xyloto the only song i know how to play and doesn´t have the same scale is Paradise and it kinda sounds different from every other song, but i don´t know it´s just my theory.

Do you mean a chord progression?

edit: Paradise uses a couple minor chords in a progression that I guess is atypical for a top 40.

Yeah, i didn't explain myself that well, but anyway im sure it's nothing

I think perhaps an album of songs follows a similiar pattern used for individual songs - sticking to a bunch of notes so that the sound is coherent. Have a look at the instrument thread.
