Hi Antonia, I'm Bianca, nice to meet you! :nice:

Okay, people, I got a bit silly this evening and thought of making something (alomost) Snow Patrol related. Here is what I came up with.

Oh my God, I'm so cuddly! I just want to hug myself! And everyone else!

Seriously, that's both adorable and hilariously awesome.

  • Finally a new album from the band! Haven't heard the full album yet, just the 3 pre-released songs and they're great.

Yeah, Gary's voice did sound a little more gruff than usual, I think they mentioned in the interview that it was pretty early, so I bet that had something to do with it. But even gruff, he's got the most amazing voice. :wacky:

It was about 11.30 a.m.. Not too early. ;) But they had had a rough night sleeping on the tour bus. Plus they were driving through the mountains and the interviewer said that it's always though to go over the mountain down to Toronto.

Remember the Just Say Yes premiere? Gary sounded so tired on the phone and that was two ours after the interview with Q! :stunned: They must have had a terrible ride then. :(

:laugh4: That was the funniest thing I've heard today!

I'm sorry you can't huddle neither your teddie-ego nor any other. Thanks for the compliment, Michael. :nice:

So I can keep making crazy stuff?

Hi Jea, I'm Jen. It's nice to meet you! :nice:

and I was wondering about ordering on amazon.co.uk, too. The deluxe set isn't being offered in the US, so that's probably the best way to get it... I should just be able to use a mastercard or something to order it, right?

Also, Jea, I did see that they're also selling it on SP's online store:

http://order.universalmusic.co.uk/snowpatrol/product_2.html

You might try there! :)

Hi Jen, nice to meet you too :nice:

Well, I actually wanted to order Eyes Open (I've got it on my computer and on a burned CD, but I never got round to buy the real thing somehow) and I want the UK version with the bonus tracks (I love Warmer Climate ). But thanks for the link :)

And I think a mastercard will work. That's my problem, I don't have a credit card and neither does anyone I know.

I don't know if I should get Up To Now... I'd love to, but uuugh, the money.. my friends already think I'm crazy cause I buy "so many" CDs :P

 Alright, I think I'm going for another thing this evening. :D

Yay, that sounds good. :)

Just Say Yes is headed for the top 10 here, simply from looking at pre-orders for the single on iTunes. :D

Really like the song now; at first I was all,, but now I'm,

Can't wait to hear those other new songs. Plus that solo version of Olive Grove.

I'm not too keen on 'Just Say Yes' :(

^I didn't love it at first, either... but now it's really grown on me.

What don't you like about it? The fact that it's more "dancey" (for lack of a better word)? To me, it still sounds Snow Patrol-esque... not toooooo different.

Have you had a chance to hear the samples of "Dark Roman Wine" and "Give Me Strength"? Those both sound great to me, even at first listen.

@Bernard- there's also a sample of tbe new Olive Grove over on their facebook page... let me see if I can link it up...

Yeah, I think that's it, it's more 'dancey'

To be honest I've only listened to it a few times! I love Snow Patrol, and this is one of the only songs I'm not too keen on! I will listen to it more, and I can't wait to listen to the other two new songs on 'Up To Now'! :D I havn't heard the samples yet....where are they? :P

Oh wait, I just stumbled on this:

The last decade has seen Snow Patrol grow from a group of university friends playing small venues to the arena-filling, anthem-blasting superstars they are today, and Up To Now showcases the best of Snow Patrol's first five albums, from massive hits like 'Run' and 'Spitting Games' to lesser-known gems from their earlier records. There are B-Sides and rarities too, including the band's cover of Beyonce's 'Crazy In Love'!

To celebrate the release of Up To Now, we've got four pairs of tickets to an exclusive invite-only gig that the guys are playing in Crouch End, London! The lucky winners will get a rare chance to see one of the biggest bands in the world at an intimate local pub on November 4th 2009 - an incredible treat for any fan!

To be in with a chance of winning this fantastic prize, all you need to do is answer the question below, fill in your details and click Go!

Here's the link... http://www.play.com/Music/CD/4-/11740321/Eyes-Open/Product.html

The contest window opens from the SP Banner... look closely!

EDIT: this is for UK residents only, so get on this people!!

Thank you :)

You're welcome.

I'm Jen, btw. :nice:

Were you able to open the page OK?

ALSO: Hi Antonia & Jea - I'm Meredith :)

Hey, nice to meet you :nice: Get well soon!

Olive Grove:

GARY'S VOOOOOOOOOOOICE!!!

Oh my.

yes! I love Olive Grove, but I always thought it's better live because his voice sounds so... drowned out on the album. But this sounds great  Can't wait for the whole thing.

Give Me Strength also sounds amazing :nice:

You know what? Cartwheels is damn addictive. :stunned: I can't stop playing it all the time. I mean, that only happened to me with Chocolate and Just Say Yes (:smug:) before!

Not convinced by the new An Olive Grove Facing The Sea yet. :\ *hides*

Sorry for the double post, but I just had the Snow Patrol moment on Coldplay.com.

Seeing this:

Q. What kind of bear is best?

The Oracle replies:

Without a shadow of a doubt the Panda is best. I read this recently and it made me smile because it is so true... "I have been thinking about the TV man who has said pandas should die out. I think he is completely wrong. You can argue that the panda is the most brilliant species because it has evolved in such a way to make it look super-cute. This means that the most powerful species on the planet. Human beings automatically want to look after any panda the moment they see it. It is the most brilliant evolutionary strategy - way ahead of any other animal. It means that if you are a panda you just lie there and humans do everything for you". Polar bears are pretty cool too.

1) a TV man who says pandas should die out? Remindes me so much of the interview Gary and Nathan gave this year in Austrlia. They joked around about having a fight with a panda on stage.

2) polar bears? For obvious reasons. :D

Made me laugh and definetely my evening. :laugh4:

Aww, there's no need for that, Bianca! I can see where you're coming from, in fact - all the lush orchestral awesomeness of the album version's gone, and this one-man-and-his-guitar version can't really compare, even if it's brilliant.

Jea described Gary's voice in the older version as 'drowned' and I really liked that about the song. It fitted very well in my opinion.

I like his clear voice a lot but I don't like it to be the same in every song. And An Olive Grove Facing The Sea always seemed to me more intimate with the fragile voice.

Oh, don't get me started on this. - Ask Elena how the conversation went when we were discussing Give Me Strenght according to the preview.
