:embarassed: may be you told me that before, but have you been in Spain? :surprised:

so since how long have you been studying spanish? :)

I told ya this before :D but I went to Salamanca a few years ago... But I've been studying Spanish for a long time, maybe for 5 years here at school, but I wanted to travel to Spain to "really" learn spanish, i mean, with native speakers... I really like it, I had a Spanish test these days :P

so good. :D

but i warn you about some places in Andalucia, their spanish is not so accurate and their accent is pretty different... well all the south of Spain in general.

lol... here we go:

2 spanish bands of the day:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X9jB2kwWnig^i've never had watched the vid before, but how the guy could had change that much, he looked cute back then. (the vid is 4 years old or so).

they are a duo band from Cádiz, and surprisingly they don't use to sing with southern accent :o

they sing so tender music...

Celtas Cortos are pretty different lol they write more rocky and political music:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mV1-ChxkKw8band from my hometown (where i was born) that's Valladolid.

they are a bit related to my family.. the violinist, is the grandson of some neigbour of my grandma :P and my oldest cousin knows the singer as he used to work as sound technician on some gigs or something like that

that's the most known song of them, i think... anyways this song was the one i liked most when i got their album... this song may is 10 or 15 years old

*feels so old now*

i haven't had watched Celtas Cortos video completely, the quality is not so good, and seems is a re-edition of the original song... 'cause they all look so as they are now, and they should look younger

----

now i don't know which song to choose as song of the day :\

It's been a while since i've posted here...

S.O.T.D.:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=am7Rrzc98Gg

:nice: i think the vid is cute.

(I've been thinking to post another song as sotd some days ago.. may i'll post it tomorrow).

Spanish band for today is:

Jarabe de Palo, formed in 1996 and they become popular for their hit "La Flaca" a year later... Due to the increase of cases of anorexia in girls at this time in Spain, on next album the leader of the band cut his hair for some event that some asociation to avoid anorexia in young girls, and they regretted the tittle of their hit as if it were responsible to that situation... :\ (that if i remember that correctly  )

a friend sent me their album one christmas. :)

well i don't like that so much at times, and i think some their vids are a bit strange... so i dunno well which video to pic. :uhoh:

i think they've moved to be more personal and to write about love/unlove and dialy things that makes life nice and worthy...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hAmBN1BLmCQ&feature=related

^the vid is a bit :freak: at times imo, but song is nice. Lol i remember a comediant covering that song, that was so fun :laugh3:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tTvhW8lDHFk

^i think that after their hit "La Flaca" this one may is their most known song, at least the one i remember that had been played most on radio stations. (Again i think that this vid is a bit :freak: at times XD )

Btw as they use to have lyrics like this one and calmy music, their music use to be chosen on many tv adverts here. :)

----

I'm preparing some exams now so i don't post here as often as i used to, and i'm close to 33k and i would like to write something worthy now lol... :uhoh:

hope everyone (if someone still checks this thread) are doing fine. :sunny:

sotd:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NMKEHQqREMo

I believe i've chosen that song as sotd previously  There's no special reason why i pick that one, but that i like the music, the vid and the voice. (which to me resembles to Bono's voice :uhoh: )

Yesterday happened something weird in class which i prefer not to mention here, but really i was like WTF :worried:

But when i finished uni i went to a mall with my dad :nice: i was so happy, looking for teddies, and seeing what kids have now. Wow, Playmobil area was amazing, many new stuff that i'd like i had played with when i was younger

Today i finished lectures early and so i went to do some shopping with my dad at the grocery here... and so the woman asked me if i'd like to teach her nephew (which i've never met), some english as he is bad at it and he don't want to fail the subject again... i was a bit :uhoh: so she told me that the'll mention that to the kid father... i warned her that when i'll be doing practices next year i'll be busy at evening and will be difficult to teach the kid then :\

we'll see what happen with it, i'm not so in to do that as honestly i wouldn't like to leave the kid in the middle if he'll need to take those classes the whole year. :(

i dunno which spanish band to choose as band of the day, so i'll go to an easy one:

*drums*

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qx3HCAWoAso

Triana, active from 1974-1983. The band ended when the singer died on a car accident :bigcry:

they played progressive rock, and has many flamenco resemblaces at times.

Currently only lives the guitarist, Rodway, as the drummer "Tele" died few years ago

Another andalusian band has versioned them many times to tribute them, the other band is called Medina Azahara. Recently another more flamenco-like singer-band called El Barrio has versioned some songs of them, and on a tribute album where other spanish artist sing their own versions of them, Joaquín Sabina has versioned Tu Frialdad (I belive it was this song)... Personally I prefer Triana than to any cover anyone has done of them.

Btw the singer has andalusian accent when singing it can be noticied on things like when he enshorts the words or things like that.

Sorry of the vids quality is not very good :(

Too bad there isn't the song i like most of them :\ (Diálogo).

Check their thread here.

spanish band of the day...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t5zWfADKgGk

^he was pretty talented, his sister tributed him singing that song again quite recently.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t2KfF47rO_g

^that one kind of feature some gipsy event... he composed it for his only daugther, and that song was used on many babies adverts on tv i remember.

he was active from 1980 until 1995 when he died two weeks after his mother a so well-known singer here.
