They have actually gone out of their way to introduce fake mistakes in every concert pretty much since the X&Y era, so as to make them look more relatable/"human" to the crowd, so this can't be it...

Really sad about that, and I fully agree it is possible to smoothly broadcast a 5 hour live event, it is just more costly. But maybe they also didn't want to risk the weather on that day being bad.

I also expect 40 mins max based on the fact that spoken word artists will be squeezed in, which is funnily enough exactly what I thought it would be back in April before we knew the set times ? I don't expect anything except greatest hits + Higher Power, sadly. I would love it if they surprise us and at least bring one unexpected fan favourite back (like Sparks during the EL era, or Everything's Not Lost in the 2020 IG livestream) but I'm not getting my hopes up. Viva La Vida is pretty much a given, based on the chant recordings they wanted. And as has been said, Chris mentioned rehearsing The Scientist in the Zane Lowe interview so high chances for this one also.

Chris does not crave (more) money, he craves approval. And like any artist, he really likes to make the kind of music he likes. I see this as the biggest problem actually: his 180° turn on what he considers great music ?

Wow this discussion has gone south fast ? I agree with some of the sentiments expressed by @Strawberry Swinger, although NOT with the tone in which they have been expressed ? I would never be so harsh on the band or insult them, but i do agree they are clearly aiming for the TikTok generation with this song. I wouldn't call Higher Power soulless either, I do believe it comes from Chris's genuine heartfelt feelings but sadly nowadays he expresses them with, um, shall we say less sophisticated "come on - come on - you've got - yeah you've got -" repetitive catchphrases rather than more complex lyrics.And now that is a trend in mainstream music that I genuinely dislike. Btw I think AROBTTH and X&Y were influenced by the 80s too (Echo and the Bunnymen, U2, The Cure,...), but imho by good 80s stuff. Higher Power feels more like one of these current 80s retro songs than an actual 80s song. There's something missing about it, maybe a great melody. People compare it with Take on Me by A-ha, but honestly Take on Me is a much better song with better melody and vocals. It's rare that I'm saying this about a Coldplay song, but I have to be honest.

Sorry, but I don't get that reasoning. No one makes a song purposefully worse in the studion version (which will forever and always be the definitive, standard version of that song, like it or not) so that people are surprised that it sounds better live.

I really don't get why neither the supposedly so great producer Max Martin nor anyone from the band felt the need to put Jonny's guitar in the actual song (in the first half, and then turn it up in the second half). This is beyond frustrating.

I feel a concert does not exclusively have to consist of feel-good songs...I don't understand why the darkness and rockiness of Everyday Life songs can't be embraced just like GS songs were fitted into the AHFOD Tour setlist.

I hope they actually do continue until their old age...a world without Coldplay is something I don't even want to imagine.
