  12. Today is my 1st Coldplaying anniversary ! One year since I joined this forum. :bliss: It has been a year full of changes in my own life...Since I joined this forum, I graduated from university and moved to another continent. On the Coldplay side of things, I started a Coldplay CD collection, I made the Oldplaying thread (loved by some, hated by others), I took part in a lot of more and less futile discussions, elimination games etc., witnessed the release of a new album and the start of a new tour, made myself a penpal through Secret Santa (@iamsue :D), started a project dedicated to bring a particular song to the band's attention and finally, thanks to being on the forum, last month I got the opportunity to see Coldplay live for the first time and with such a great view too ! So thanks to all the nice people I have met here on the forum and have had the chance to talk to or play games with or now even sing together with ! Here's to all of you :loveshower: EDIT: Here's a little something I made for you. Bear in mind that it was produced in 5 minutes, that I can't play the piano and that both my recording device as well as the piano were crap. So don't take it seriously :) It was just a little fun I wanted to share with you: http://www.filedropper.com/medley
  13. I couldn't help but notice the absence of a song by the one band that unites us all here :D
  14. Here are some tips from me: - do freewriting sessions in which you just spontaneously write everything that is in your mind (I personally never do that but it seems to work for most people) - read a lot of well-written books. Often the key to good lyrics/poetry lies in the imagery you use. You shouldnt copy any imagery you encounter, but I can assure you that you will become more eloquent and be able to create better imagery the more you read. - get inspired by nature. Similar to what alisbe said, go out and see the world and marvel at how wonderful everything that surrounds us is (by the way I don't mean that in a spiritual way. I am not at all spiritual, but that doesn't stop me from admiring life and the universe :)) Often you don't need to go far to find unexpected or new things - it could be a different area in your own city or even a street in your own quarter that you have never been to. - try to abstracize your feelings. Finally, don't force it. Sometimes I want to write about a feeling I have and just no words come out. Accept it and move on. The time will come when the right words will come to you. Very often I think about something when I am for example in public transport or walking somewhere, or I notice something, and suddenly I have a poetic idea. I pull out my phone and while I type the keywords into it, sometimes entirely formed lines just flow onto it right out of my mind, sometimes an entire poem that I don't even have to modify any more :) I bet that's what Chris means when he says that some songs just "come" to him. It's incredible what the mind can do when you let it roam freely.
