  1. Can we have a moment of silence for the poor souls who log on, see the "New Song!!" thread and immediately think the new single has been released, only to soon realize it's a few 15 second, smartphone quality snippets from a sound check? :laugh3:
  2. To be honest I'm not too pushed about it either. The lyrics are quite bland and very similar to GS lyrics which were slated (One of the main things I'm hoping for AHFOD is better lyrics. The lyrics printed on Chris's pants were FAR superior to this. It makes me think this is a GS song that didn't make the cut. I'm almost sure of it) BUT keep in mind 15 second snippets with less than ideal audio quality is not the best context to judge a song in, especially when we already have preconceived notions and biases (This will be a poppy record, therefore I already hate it) Realistic expectations here. It's not going to sound like AROBTTH, this is nothing but a pipe dream. At least it's not an EDM driven dance song produced by Justin Bieber. It's Coldplay sounding and that's enough to keep me happy until we hear more.
  3. I think so too. The lyrics are very GS-esque as well as the generally melody and Jonny's guitar. This would also explain the electronic drums if the theory this is an unheard song from the GS sessions is true.
  4. For the sake of my sanity they better not be electronic drums!
  5. If this is a song from the GS era it's another to add to the list of "Why the hell was this left off the album and True Love/ASFOS left on!"
  6. I am also of the opinion it's an unheard song from the GS sessions. The guitar has a very True Love-y, AIMH vibe to it
  7. Atlas project calling it "Amazing Day" What an absolutely horrendous title. Let's hope the band have a better title for it.
  8. I have to agree. I thought this too but even if it is a GS era left over it's still something new.
  9. "Sat on a roof, there were stars" A continuation of Chris's star fetish confirmed for LP7.
  10. It sounds like it could fit in snugly on Ghost Stories. This is such a tease.. 15 second snippets, I mean come on! Need entire song to judge properly *Twitches from frustration*
  11. I think it does have a slightly pop-sounding feel, I think this might be a Stargate produced track because the instruments have that synthetic feel like in Miracles. Especially the piano, I think it sounds very Miracles-esque.
  12. The lyrics sound very GS-y to me. I hope this is not just a GS song that didn't make the final cut!
  13. I have to laugh at the woman in the wine shirt. Chris touches her and she gives a blank nod and a "get the hell off me" expression. Woman, do you know who just touched you?!? :laugh3:
  14. That's just ASFOS with Depeche Mode lyrics transposed over the top. He did the same thing at iHeartRadio.
  15. Too bad the snippet is 15 seconds long! I mean how hard is it to record the full song?!
  16. Sounds like Coldplay to me. No electronic dancing stuff!
  17. Where's the fu*king link motherf**kers?!
  18. To me that "story" about meeting Chris Martin is pure fan fiction :laugh3:
  19. I think a lot of it has to do with the band being very Chris-centric as well. I mean their dramatic shift in sound had to be a conscious decision and I doubt Guy stood up one day and said "Let's not be the best rock band in the world anymore. Let's settle on doing collaborations with Rihanna and Avicii" The anecdote about the lads not wanting to put ASFOS on GS because it broke the structure and flow to an otherwise intimate album and then Chris insisting on it until he got his way. To me this is very telling and perhaps the other 3's creative input is hampered in a way as (it seems) from the outside Chris makes all the important decisions and the Guy, Jonny and Will just follow his instructions and the music is just churned out on a production line. It would make you wonder if any of them think "A Rush Of Blood To The Head was one of the best albums of all time, I wish we could stop all this pop nonsense and go back to being a band again"
  20. Actually, I'd go a step further and say Coldplay are dangerously verging close to this already. Retrospectively, if we look at the Coldplay timeline, we see how they started out as a genuine rock band interested in making great music. As the fame, chart positions and money increases, we see how slowly yet surely they have chipped away at themselves. I would say they haven't been a legitimate rock band since 2005 (I found this hard to accept, but I don't think their is any use hiding from it. They are pure pop act masquerading as a band nowadays) I used to previously think VLV was the record that broke them but after reflecting on it more I think it was their own perception of X&Y and the interference of Brian Eno that have resulted in the aberration we have today. My own hope is that in a few years time, possibly after a long hiatus. When they're a bit older and more chill and when their prominence has faded they'll come back bigger and stronger (pun intended) than ever and lose all this pomp and circumstance they've accumulated the last few years and go back to basics.
