  1. GS is like a Nissan Micra and AROBTTH is like a Bugatti Veyron...
  2. You should be flattered ;)
  3. Wow that's weird. I'd say Clocks is the quintessential Coldplay song. It has all the elements that make Coldplay great: A gorgeous melody, Chris's falsetto soars, Rocky edge, the cryptic lyrics Chris's is known for etc. My favourite element to Clocks is Jonny's guitar chords, they seem so different to the piano line yet work perfectly in tandem. It's not overly emotional or a slow ballad either, what Coldplay hits are normally infamous for *Insert The Scientist, Fix You, Yellow, Trouble here* It's up tempo and urgent. Great stuff altogether
  4. Chris has said it's a 40-20-20-20 split during the Howard Stern interview.
  5. #LetsEliminateVivaOnceAndForAll so we can finally shut up the #SaveViva crowd :laugh3:
  6. The optimist in me says that because the album is so good they don't want to overexpose people to it yet. Maybe drop a couple of singles and release the full album soon after that. The pessimist in me says that maybe it's because they're so early in the process of recording/writing the album that there is simply nothing to tease and that through our own speculation we have built up an unrealistic hype which in turn has given us the impression of an unrealistic release period and that we could be looking at a Q1 or Q2 2016 release.
  7. I have no doubt that Stargate would be able to produce a rock record but I'd say the band actively sought them out to make a pop album full of megahits. If the album does end up sounding like Rihanna you can't really blame Stargate for doing what they do. The blame will lie at the bands door for hiring them in the first place.
  8. Yeah, It's counterfeit. You can see in the comments at the bottom someone has linked the artwork which was basically stolen from someones deviantart. Still, pretty cool find counterfeit or not.
  9. Your phone has great taste.
  10. There's underlying truth there and I agree with the point the band is very Chris-centric but in fairness the lads contribute their individual instrument elements to each song. We don't really know who wrote what considering they split the credits 4 ways but we know for a fact Jonny wrote the riff for In My Place and Guy wrote the bass line for Magic, so without them we wouldn't have those songs. Who knows how may songs were initiated by the other 3. Reducing them to average session musicians isn't really fair. In particular, Jonny's influences had a big influence on the early albums, dream pop on Parachutes (To create that ambient effect) and Shoegazing on AROBTTH.
  11. This is true to a certain extent but one of the major grievances about MX/GS was that they were drowned in production. I can imagine myself loving MX if it was stripped back and the bombastic pomp was taken out of it. Looking at Stargate's record it looks like they need to learn the word "restraint" big time.
  12. I'd love to be Jonny because I'm a guitarist and let's face it, Jonny is a legend. All the glory of being an essential part of the Coldplay sound without having all the paparazzi attention Chris gets.
  13. I agree with you on most things and I adore X&Y but AROBTTH is honestly a much better album. Whereas X&Y is a great Coldplay album, AROBTTH is a masterpiece for all time. The fans will love and cherish X&Y forever but AROBTTH and Parachutes will be remembered as two of the best albums ever made.
  14. Very impressed by your work thus far. Keep it up!
  15. Design it yourself ;) http://www.capcoldplay.com/# Wow, I must be really sad for wearing band merchandise according to some posters here! :laugh3: I'd just say that people wear the jerseys of sports teams they love and brands they love. I'm no big fan of sport or designer brands so I don't see how wearing the t shirt of a band would be any different to those things. And I'm young so I suppose I get away with it.
  16. I have 4 Coldplay t-shirts (2 AROBTTH era, 1 X&Y era and the other one is MX of all things) and I have absolutely no problem wearing them! I don't all the time because I wouldn't wear anything but Coldplay Merch and that's a bit uninspired and repetitive :P My favorite t shirt and the one I wear most often is the AROBTTH album art but the colours are reversed so the t shirt is black and the artwork is white and Coldplay is written above it. Classic
  17. I think someone asked this exact question during the summer and he said something stupid like Sex Over The Phone by The Village People :laugh3:
  18. More uninspired than GS? The album that had True Love and ASFOS on it? Come on now...
  19. I would suggest a small weakness to the song in that the ambient intro is just a tad too long.
  20. Blasphemy. Take a look around my friend. You're not going to make many friends around here talking nonsense like that ;)
