what song brings tears to your eyses on AROBTH
That is the exact same way for me! I find that something can move me a ton since I'm that way, but just like you I find it rare for even a tear to come out of my eye. It has to be over the top for me for that to happen. And just look, Coldplay are able to take it that one step further with a few of their songs. They truly deserved that award they got at NME. It's a very special award to have and I'm so happy Coldplay got it, They truly deserve it with all of these wonderous works they've brought us over the years. Now they have something for everyone it seems, to the very stripped-down, simple, melancholic "less is more" Parachutes to the bigger-than-life fun explosions happy AHFOD with some dance tunes and more mainstream-resembling music in places! The diversity of their discography is truly amazing and even though we may not like all of it they've done a lot of stuff.

[2016-01-18] Coldplay announced as NME’s “Godlike Genius” award winners
I don't either. But IMO it is one of the best of 2015. Certainly better than the utter trash you hear on the radio.... there are like 2 tracks I can think of on mainstream radio that got popular that are better than AOAL. Crazy. I can only remember like 7 songs from 2015 too.

Watching right now. I agree with quite a bit of this guy's comments... interesting.

Guess coldplay song
Watched it, gave Fix You a whole new dimension. This song is now even better than it was, Thanks for introducing me to that.

O (Reprise). So underrated....

Up&Up
That is pretty awesome, although it's unlikely that it'll get popular. Although it'd be really nice, they should have worked on promoting HFTW which clearly would have been the big one from this album. The music video is definetely going to be interesting though,

why hymn for the weekend doesn't perform well inchart like other second single?
What are Coldplay actually doing? Up&Up is definetely not going to get popular. They should pay attention to HFTW. Although, that is pretty cool for such an epic closer like Up&Up to be released as a single...

Exactly, every time I turn on Alt Nation AOAL plays. It's literally overplayed now on it.

Logic invalid. You hear bad songs on the radio every single day.

Random Coldplay thoughts...
LOL @ copying Coldplay's ideas. Like make something original! Goes to show that even some of the biggest acts can copy stuff that the real big act used first. (Sorry if I sound dumb and Coldplay's actually not the first one, I don't know a lot about those things :P) EDIT: yeah maybe Coldplay didn't make them, sure were the first one to use them, and it has "Xylo" in it so pretty obviously meant for Coldplay first
-

That is true, however I'm surprised because this would sound like a club themed song at first glance which of course the mainstream would love so I don't understand why it's not doing as well as we expected it to

Random Coldplay thoughts...
I had to come home today :( However, it wasn't all bad. I was driving from 9 this morning till 6 in the afternoon (evening I guess? :P) and I had my playlist on. For the first part it was all the songs I liked on my phone that I'd liked to hear (my favorites playlist). The drive home, I put a playlist on of some sadder songs. However, it was really nice because as sad as I was it was a wonderful musical experience, for example I'm listening to the wonderful The Scientist right now and with the sun setting it was the perfect perfect song, just like every song that played then. And the one thing is, if I hadn't have to come home today, I wouldn't have had this wonderful melancholic musical experience! :D So I guess that's one good thing that came out of it.... (If you couldn't tell by now, I love driving... well I actually can't call it "driving" because most of the time Im not actually driving, but I think you get the point :P)

Politik. As much as I love the new songs, I've gotta admit that they just can't do stuff at this level anymore.

There's nothing wrong by Eleven Past One. I only first heard it 8 months ago in July, but I only recently found out it was released way back in 2012!! Like seriously. I knew it was too good to be released in 2015... Where did the good old mainstream music go??

100 Years - Five For Fighting EDIT more than 6 months later: Was more referring to the songs lyrics and just thinking about them. No, I am not 100 years old. LOL :D (time to revive this thread!)

I have been a member on this message board for 13 years. Sell outs...
I'd say that they still have creativity (you don't think of tapping on glasses every day. right?) Hymn For The Weekend, while very mainstream-sounding, sounds quite different. I think they still have lyrical deepness, however they arguably don't have it like their old days and they do have really bad lyrics at times. Artistical curiousity.... nah, I think they'd still have that. Originality.... yeah, I think that's still there too. I'd say they lost the heartfelt melodies of the good old days Their music isn't quite as soulful anymore either. I mean, it may be, but just look at Politik. Or The Scientist. Their songwriting abilities have also taken a step down. The production choices they've been making (I mean like bringing in Stargate) are also poor. So those are the reasons why I think they've taken a step down...

My Coldplay-Influenced Album "Your Love Means Everything", What do you think?
Lol I love how I just brought everyone's attention to this thread :) This is a very cool idea, this I think is going to be awesome!

But something is better than nothing at least :) You'd get to see the band right in front of your eyes who made these wonderful older songs! Even if they won't play them and they may play songs you don't like to much I think it'll be worth it! I think they will play some older songs anyway though :)

I completely see what you mean. O could see where the band played Fix You recently and I definitely can hear that he's just not as good. :(
