  1. HAPPY BIRTHDAY, JONNY BOY :D :D It's the last year before the big 3 - 0 and you're still the only one with no wife or kids, SO HURRY UP, MAN :P It might be a very sad and dark day worldwide, but I hope you'll still find the time and friends to celebrate your special day! We all love you and you get sexier from year to year ;)
  2. Yeah I've seen that picture on a Gwyneth message board. She looks absolutely stunning in that pic and she's a good friend of Michael Stipe. Chris and her attended a Food Bank Dinner that honored Michael Stipe, short after Moses was born.
  3. Awww how cute :D
  4. They live in the area of Belsize Park, a rather expensive area of London ;) I don't think that Chris would be too happy about people talking about where to meet him on the street :P Who knows where he hangs out in private..
  5. My favourite line ever: So I look in your direction, but you pay me no attention, do you? When I first heard the song, I was EXACTLY in the position that's described, and I started crying immediately.. I still think of it whenever I hear that line.
  6. The 3am colum of UK newspaper Daily Mirror reports that Chris Martin appearently had dinner with U2 singer Bono and Beatles legend Paul McCartney. The dinner was held Wednesday evening (Sep 6) at London's Locanda Locatelli restaurant. A spy says: "They were chatting away. Macca was quiet at first but he soon livened up." From: http://coldplay.co.funpic.de/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=84&Itemid=2 I think it's awesome that he gets along with people like them so well.. He's friends with so many important, influential legends like Bono, Elton John, Paul McCartney or Bob Geldof! Just imagine you'd be a 29-year-old singer being friends with people you adored in your youth - amazing :D
  7. My 3 songs: * One Coldplay song - I can't choose one and it doesn't really matter because I'm in love with so many of their songs and each of them means a lot to me! * Jeff Buckley - Hallelujah (it's the most emotional song I know and it just HAS TO be played at my funeral) * Beatles - Here comes the sun (my favourite song ever, no matter which version - may it be Beatles, Oasis, Coldplay, whatever.. I just NEED this song!)
  8. I just read an article about an 18-year old girl shot by the police because the officers felt "threatened" by her whielding a knife. It's a quite controversal, strange case and a very, very sad story which you can read here: http://www.hbindependent.com/articles/2006/09/07/publicsafety/hbi-shooting07.txt However, the article features this paragraph: MacDonald's mother Lisa Marie Guy bent down to kiss her one last time before taking her seat. It was half-way through the service while listening to Coldplay's song "Yellow" that Guy broke down, shaking her head several times. I know that it's a sad thing to think about, but what do you think about having a Coldplay song at YOUR funeral? Some songs suit perfectly for remembering a person, both giving you a good and an incredibly sad feeling. What song would YOU like - which song represents your life best, with which song would you like your family and friends to say Goodbye? If that's a stupid thread/thought, then I apologise.. But I thought of that a couple of times before, because one of my last wishes, in this state of mind, would be having a Coldplay song at the ceremony..
  9. That's so cool, thanks for the video! Just imagine you'd stand right behind Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin at a gig - I wouldn't even pay attention to Madonna :P Just strange that they were in the 3rd row, I guess they could have afforded VIP seats in the first row - but it was the same with Coldplay gigs, Gwyneth always wanted to sit in the middle of all the other fans :D
  10. Well, except of Guy, the guys have quite ordinary names - there are a million Chris, Jonny and Will's out there, aren't there? ;) My favourite names are actually Noel and Liam - which sucks, because I definitely don't want to create the next chaotic, constantly fighting Gallagher brothers :P I just love the names and one day I gotta choose which one I'll take, because I wouldn't want people to associate my kids with the Gallaghers ^^ I like the name Will though.. I'd pick Will for my son, but I wouldn't call it naming a kid AFTER them, no..
  11. Exactly! You know, Radio 1 said they`d be the next big thing, all the VJs said they loved their debut album, and everyone just agreed without even listening properly! I heard about that incident at the NME tour, I felt bad for Maximo Park because they`re really cool and down-to-earth people, you know, and they worked hard for what they`ve achieved so far! It`s a pity..
  12. Alright, FINALLY I can say this - I was always afraid to say it because in times like these, where the Arctic Monkeys are "the next big thing", you get beaten up when you dare saying you don`t like them! I`m not saying they`re not good, they do have some good songs and their success story over the internet is kinda impressive, but these are arrogant, cocky teenagers who became successful WAY too quickly and who are FAR away from being "down to earth"!! Alex Turner is just the best example, how old is he, 18 or something? And he thinks he`s the next John Lennon! Let`s see what their following albums sound like - make three successful albums, grow up and THEN judge a band like Coldplay! I`m not mad at him for saying bad things about Coldplay, even though Chris was supporting the band right from the beginning, but I`m just sick of their arrogant, stupid behavior and their useless statements!
  13. Well the fact that you find biographies boring is your opinion and if you're not interested in it, you don't have to look at it or this thread!
  14. Well, he obviously felt attracted to boys and was afraid it would mean more than just friendship!?
  15. Flying Sparks replied to blobo's topic in Coldplay
Ooooh how great, that's sooner than I was expecting :D Yaaay! Thanks for letting us know!
  16. I like U2 so I'm not able to agree with you, especially because I'd LOVE to see U2 live one day which I haven't had the chance to yet! But I'm sorry you had this experience and feel this way - and though you obviously lost U2 as one of your favourite bands, you at least won the love for another great band: Coldplay :D I'm sorry that you feel this way about U2, I was really disappointed by a Franz Ferdinand concert last year and promised myself never to listen to their songs again, but you'll get over it, believe me, because no matter how bad that FF concert sucked, I started listening to their music again and it's awesome indeed! And there must be a reason why you used to love U2 - so try to get over that concert and appreciate their music again :)
  17. First of all, welcome to the board :) It's true that this question has been discussed a lot, but it's always ok to open a thread about something you're thinking of! I agree with you, I was surprised by the choice as well because THP was my least favourite song on the album, I would have preferred White Shadows as the fourth single. I was surprised by the weird music video as well, but the more often I hear it on the radio or see it on TV, the more I like it and the more I respect their choice of releasing it =)
  18. I have most of it from their biography by Martin Roach, it's also the kind of information that's on every website you can find, I hope it's all true :P I might be wrong though.. I update the information as regularly as I can and there's not confirmation that it's true.
  19. Well, here's all the stuff I put on my website, it's definitely not all, I kept it short, but it's the most important stuff (in my opinion): CHRISTOPHER ANTHONY JOHN MARTIN Born on March 3, 1977 in Devonshire village of Whitestones Family:Chris has four siblings - two sisters and two brothers . One of his brothers is called Al Martin and is in a band called Milk Teeth. His dad is an accountant and magistrate and his mum is a biology teacher who was born and raised in Zimbabwe; they both live in Somerset. Chris' wife Gwyneth once said: "You hear terrible stories about mothers-in-law but mine is so fantastic and loving. ... I also have four sibling in-laws who are all incredibly different from each other and incredibly interesting and wonderful." On December 5, 2003, Chris married actress Gwyneth Paltrow within a secret wedding ceremony in Southern Californica. They live in Belsize Park, a rather expensive area in North London, and have another home in New York. Additionally, they're appearently interested in buying another home in North Hampton. On May 14, 2004, their daughter Apple Blythe Alison Martin was born. Her little brother Moses Bruce Anthony Martin was born almost 2 years later, on April 8, 2006. Musical background: He played keyboard in some school bands, e.g. "The Rockin' Honkies", "The Red Rooster Boogie Band" and "Identity Crisis". Short facts: - The first single he bought was "There's no other way" by Blur. - The first album he bought was Michael Jackson's "Thriller". - When Chris was a teenager, he thought he was gay: "I was sixteen when I finally felt confident I wasn't gay. But the homophobia at public school can be pretty intense." ***************************************** JONATHAN MARK BUCKLAND Born on 11 September, 1977 in Mold (area of Clywd, North Wales) Family: His mother was a music teacher while his father taught biology and chemistry. He has an elder brother whose name is Tim. He showed Jonny how to play the guitar and has his own band called At the Lake. Jon is the only guy in the band who isn't married yet, but it's confirmed that he has a longtime girlfriend called Chloe Lee-Evans. Musical background: His father adored Eric Clapton and Jimi Hendrix, therefore Jon was only eleven years old when he started learning the guitar. Short facts: - Besides the electric guitar, he can also play the piano and harmonica, just like Chris! ***************************************** GUY RUPERT BERRYMAN Born on 12 April, 1978 in Kirkaldy (Fife, Scotland) Family: His father was an engineer, while his mother was a housewife. Guy lived in Kirkaldy until he was 13 and then moved to Canterbury in Kent with his family. He has one brother who's called Mark. As his dad was an engineer, Guy first picked the subject Engineering at university, but soon found it too difficult, so he switched to Architecture. In Fall 2004, Guy married his childhood sweetheart Joanna Briston in a low-key ceremony. They expect their first child in Spring 2006. Musical background: Guy started learning the recorder when he was eight, then he learned trumpet and finally he started to play the bass after he had moved to Kent aged 13. He played in several school bands, e.g. "Time Out". Short facts: - Guy likes collecting rare vinyl singles and albums - he once even paid £100 for a rare vinyl copy of "Hell" by James Brown. - His first band, "Time Out", mainly played Genesis covers. ***************************************** WILL CHAMPION Born on 31 July, 1978 in Southampton Family: Both of his parents were music teachers, while his father Timothy Champion is now professor of archaelogy at the University of Southhampton. Will's mother Sara Champion died during the recordings of "Parachutes", that's why this LP is dedicated to her. Another insider information: During the shoot of 'Yellow', Sara's funeral took place and that's why Chris is all alone on the beach. Will has one older brother, his name is Edward and he lives in Australia. Will is married to Marianne Dark, a teacher - Will was the first of the bandmembers to get married (in 2003)! Their first child, a little baby girl called Ava Champion, was born sometime during May 2006. Musical background: As his parents taught music, it was no miracle that Will started learning instruments very early. As a teenager, Will played in a band called "Fat Hamster". Short facts: - Compared to the other band members, Will didn't have a privileged education. - According to Chris, Will is a "human jukebox": "He knows more songs than anyone. You name it, he'll play it."
  20. I'm not saying he TOURED with them because they're friends, of course he did it for finally having success again, and it worked! He won lots of new fans during his tour with Coldplay and there's certainly nothing wrong with that! But I personally think it's bullshit that he only showed up at Guy's party because of that! I think that the both of them became good friends during their tour, Guy seems to have more in common with Richard than with the other guys in the band, so he must have enjoyed the company! Not every journalist necessarily knows that Richard toured with Coldplay or thinks about that when he takes photos of them together at the Jezebell opening. God, who cared about that boutique opening anyway? I don't think that too many besides Coldplay fans took notice of it.. I might be naive, but I'd rather be naive than thinking that all musicians just hang out for publicity or money.
  21. I highly doubt that. It's not all about money in this business, they are friends and it's totally natural to show up at each other's parties! Of course there were photographers, but the photos of Richard and Guy were only taken outside and they partied inside and certainly had a great time, that's it! And Guy definitely didn't appear in Richard's video in return to get publicity or anything, they just support and like each other, that's all.
  22. That's my favourite: (it's the only one I could find on my website, the others are on my laptop which I'm not working on right now)
  23. Lol, it took me some time to see what you mean, but now I got it :P
  24. Yeah I found that link after looking for it on google, too, thanks :D Sounds good and I like the way they met! Seems like something we can definitely look forward to!
