if you ever find yourself in this part of england by some misfortune then make sure you come and get some fish and chips from grimsby/cleethorpes (two towns in one really). They are most definitely the best in the world. I know coz I've never tasted any as good outside this town. We just know what we are doing. There's not a lot else to shout about round this area. We used to have to longest single span suspension bridge in the world for a while (the humber bridge) but at the end of the the day a bridge is a bridge.
  7. White Noise 7/10 - more for atmosphere than story line or acting.

i use my crash rather than hi-hat (hit the edge). It's noisy, but i'm sure that's what will does. The bits on the ride occur in the second verse and in the third verse in the build up to the end. I actually play them bits on top of the crash now coz it's easier to just move slowly to the edge and build up the force with which i hit it so that it leads nicely back into the louder bit. i've not seen seen the drum tab for politik actually - in fact for any of the songs !! it hasn't occured to me to look for any ! d'ya find it on the web ?

  10. ALL coldplay fans should vote for Green Party - they're more than likely than any other party to steer this fucked up world towards things that Chris believes in - i.e. Fair Trade and Future Forests
  11. everyone should vote green party imho. bollocks to this two party country. fuck'em both, they both waste vast amounts of our money on things we'd rather them not. let's have a change !
  12. i don't really like much led zep after IV - the rain song is probably my fave, along with kashmir. but for some reason, i really like All My Love. dunno why coz it's a really nicey nicey song, but it's just great
  13. ani difranco - to the teeth "and if i hear one more time about a fool's right to his tools of rage i'm gonna take all my friends and i'm gonna move to canada and we're gonna die of old age"
  14. most everyone i know call coldplay depressing and boring despite having liked clocks and scientist and yellow etc when being played on the radio but getting bored with the songs after hearing them all the time. i must confess i never used to like coldplay. always though yellow was very boring. when in my place came out and i first heard it i was well anti-coldplay - couldn't believe how much attention they were getting for, what seemed at the time, to be an incredibly boring song. but as time went on, i kept hearing in my place on the radio and before i knew it i loved the song !! so i then got hold of arobtth and was well impressed. then, obviously, got parachutes and was even more impressed. shiver sparks and spies just blew me away first time i heard them. now i'm in a coldplay tribute band and play nearly all of the songs of both albums plus a handful of others !!!! :) turn around on that ! a lot of me mates come to gigs now and actually enjoy the music 10 times more live. we get people at gigs in pubs asking what kind of music we play ("duh ! do you not know what 'tribute band' means ? lol) and turn their noses up when we say coldplay. yet near the end of the gig when we're playing yellow, clocks, scientist and in my place back to back practically everyone is singing their heads off and raising the roof. makes me smile all the way from my face to deep down :)

  16. I'm a sucker for female vocalists :- Alison Goldfrapp Christina Aguilera Elizabeth Mitchell (Ida, Nanang Tatang) Sandy Denny Roison Murphy (Moloko) Skin (Skunk Anansie) Orenda Fink and Maria Taylor (Azure Ray) and the old greats :- Shirley Bassey Dionne Warwick Billie Holliday and a few blokes :- Geoff Tate (Queensryche) Bono Daniel Gildenlow (Pain of Salvation) Eric Buxton (Frank Zappa) and of course :- Chris Martin. he has a fantastic ability to express himself through his vocals

hi laura ! glad you like the name coldplace. the place is coz of in my place (as you've probably guessed). plus it works on another level coz we're from grimsby (UK east coast) and it gets well cold here most of the time. plus, it's a fishing town (we have the best fish and chips in the world btw) so we toyed with the idea of putting an i in it and getting coldplaice. we even suggested taking the first l out and ended up with codplaice - but that was just for a larf, we were never gonna call ourselves codplaice really

politik is a superb song to play. a lot of it is just hitting it hard, but the little bits in between the chorus (i.e. the bits on the ride) are all about feel. especially the last bit leading up to the ending "give me love over, love over this". i love playing that bit, really gets everyone in the mood for the rest of the gig. the only real challenge with politik is making sure i start at the right tempo lol !

oh yes, i've heard of coolplay lol  i don't really wanna go slagging off other coldplay tribute bands, but am am well pleased with your assessment of them and of us - you obviously know your stuff  we haven't recorded politik yet but are hoping to get back in the studio soon - i don't know what we'll record but i for one would like to record politik. We open our shows with it and it's a totally amazing song.
