  1. well it's not fully cracked yet is it ? we need to figure out how the code works so we can figure out the rest of the alphabet - only then will the code be really cracked.
  2. i've got both version too - only one is 4:04 and the other 4:49 but they're probably essentially the same versions as yours. I got one (4:04) off the without parachutes bootleg, which is also the same version as what's on my copy of the brother's and sisters ep. The other version (4:49) on an import version of trouble (not too sure what country).
  3. good work no prob. if someone could find some info out about what was officially said about the punch card (hopefully a name of a computer or operating system or something) then i'll have a go at cracking it when i come back l8a.
  4. must be. otherwise it all fucks up :) besides, & is not in the alphabet so let's assume special characters take two columns :)
  5. the colours may have something to do with the code but i reckon the positioning of the blocks is the first thing to work on. particularly considering the references to punch cards where the position of the holes were what mattered and nothing else. Here's a rearrangement of the letters we have so far :-
  6. the middle two columns must be the amphersand then. the real challenge now is to crack the code so we can write the entire alphabet in it and therefore see what the words "coldplay" will look like when written in the code and predict future singles covers :) so far we've got : d e f n o p s u x y i'm not convinced that the colours are part of the code, more the position of the blocks within each column - the colours are probably just to make it look pretty. I'm sure i saw somewhere the other day a reference to the computer that inspired the artwork - anyone remember ?
  7. thing is, there's four columns on the X&Y cover yet only three letters involved in X&Y.
  8. well, it's not 8-bit ascii coz there's ten rows so it's ten bit. so it's some other code - maybe machine specific to the punch-card they based it on.
  9. well spotted that man !! that should go a long way to figuring it out !! the blocks are i columns - one for each letter - notice the same arrangement of blocks for similair letters. just gonna work out if it's 8-bit ascii .......
  10. go on then !!
  11. dunno why they made it a jpg though - it's perfect for gif
  12. thats not the single artwork! rather, its the coldplayer artwork! :smash: this is the artwork :- (apologies to anyone who's seen it already) -
  13. peter sellars paul merton steve coogan ricky gervais gets a special mention for creating the best comedy since fawlty towers but i don't find him so funny on chat shows or stand-up, but it has to be said The Office is just pure genius.
  14. :) :) :)
  15. good idea ! i'm definitely gonna do that later ! cheers !
  16. it'd be even wickeder if they said they had and commented on them :)
  17. strange that you don't like it considering your username :)
  18. i think i just might do that :)
  19. i'd ask 'em if they've heard any of their tribute bands and what they thought :wink3:
  20. maybe they recorded it on ADAT and the tapes got stretched lol
  21. i've bought loads of original CDs and records for bargain prices and never been ripped off once - you've just gotta make sure the person you're buying off has good feedback and read their negative feedback etc. ebay rules
  22. well smart. like it a lot. looks like a stained glass window.
  23. agree re: bootlegs and stuff, but it can be good for second-hand original stuff
