agree with the original post about One I Love being better live. In fact, I reckon it's far far superior live. The studio version is really lame and lacks the balls that it has when they play it live. I tend to find that with most of their songs - they are better live than recorded.
  2. i'm no expert on the guns in america problem, i just thought it was crazy to give guns to teachers in school - it seems to be going in the wrong direction and will only make the situation worse surely ?
  3. you guitarists eh ? always comparing equipment  ;) i've got a pearl export special edition :)
  4. how about, erm, banning guns in america ?
  5. ^ unlucky  i've managed to not hear running up that hill anymore when i listen to it
  6. i'll give ya all my bling
  7. you're welcome :)
  8. Am glad other's have spotted the little bit of "running up that hill" in the melody  when we were first learning to play it, the guitarist mentioned it and i couldn't get the frigging kate bush song out of my head  but i can avoid it now and sing the rest of the chorus without going into running up that hill
  9. A rush of blood to the head - "I'm gonna buy a gun and start a war, if you can tell me something worth fighting for". top notch.
  10. just because i like your name :)
  11. i am practising it whilst programming (i.e tapping me feet and typing in time  )
  12. ^ why are you on here shane ? you should be practising speed of sound for tonight !

  15. If the essence of Parachutes is present, then i'll be delighted ! But the music's gonna be a progression - just one of the reasons it's gonna be a classic
  16. ^ yep. and totally agree. the world is waiting so eagerly for the new album and the hype the media has built up is so huge that it's gonna get reviews of every single kind ! from the outright scathing to highest praise. Coldplay are gonna blow everyone away ;)
  17. ^ :)
  18. not a prob, and cheers ! :D
  19. Real bands often have good singers - it's the trash in the charts that have crap singers, but i guess you all know that anyway, being on a coldplay forum . I'll never forget the first time i heard sugababes sing a song life and they were [censored] awful !
  20. ^ yeah, it is. i could never see chris hitting a reporter ... but then, i can see him getting rubbed up the wrong way by them coz they're always asking questions looking for him to big himself up.
  21. was gonna write pretty much exactly the same myself, but thought i'd cruise the other SOS threads first (took me nearly all day lol) then found this and thought i'd save myself some time by simply saying "spot on" :) Totally agree with this too. I can understand why Chris is so nervous about this album's release (he is isn't he :) everytime I hear him talking at the mo he's playing himself, the band and the album down and is soo obviously shitting it :). On the one hand, they can play it safe and release something that the masses (read : numpties) can swallow easily (i.e. more of the same) on the other there's the need to write music that reflects where they are both emotionally at this point in their lives and musically. I reckon they've gone for maybe a bit of both with SOS being the safest song and hence why it's released as single. Regardless, I think it's a beautiful song, catchy and commercial yeah, but still got some of those spine-tingling moments that so many coldplay songs have ("all that noise, all that sound" and the bit where it breaks down to just drums and synths and then hits back in). Top work and well happy :D :D :D
  22. One of the things i like about Chris and the lads is how humble they are. Their feet are firmly on the ground and not up their own arses. That comes across in their music, their live shows and there interviews and I just think it's great. Just four ordinary lads making music that millions of people happen to like. They keep it real :)
  23. i reckon it is similair to clocks. 1) It's got a sparse(ish), distinctive piano riff 2) The rhythm is not straight 4/4 bass drum around 1 and 3, snare around 2 and 4. It's got a kind of 3/3/2 pulse like clocks has Anyway, I reckon it's shit hot !! I would've had the synths slightly lower down in the mix though. Overall, well impressed. Disagree entirely. It is typical Coldplay and infinitely superior to pretenders such as Stairsailor and Snow Patrol. But then, I suppose it depends on what you want from Coldplay's 3rd album and Chris did say that it was the best "bridge" track between AROBTTH and the new album. It's the most "classic" sounding Coldplay song I've heard from the new stuff - the other four I've got from the bootleg are quite different from their other stuff.
