  1. the colours the programmer used are a bit different from the ones in the X&Y booklet. For example, the letter "L" is different..... But to give him credit, he was simply assuming the colour scheme from the sources he had available. Thank you :) I was indeed making assumptions about the colouring - i only had the X&Y and Speed of Sound covers to go on. I'll get round to updating the colours at some point.
  2. mmmm carrot cake - one of the best cakes there is :slurp:
  3. I'd defintely go with el-scorcho's suggestion of taking her out somewhere - go to some really smart national park or some outstanding nature place and have a picnic.

Pot Noodles are a "snack" (dried noodles with tons of e numbers and other dried shit) that are big in england - dunno if they exist in other countries. The Pot Noodle Horn is their latest advertising gimmick :- http://www.potnoodle.co.uk/home/
  5. A message is my fave on the album !! I do quite like Low too but Hardest Part hasn't quite grown on me and I still love SOS. The track I haven't got to like yet is Swallowed In The Sea - just a bit toooo sickly for me. I i've got a love/hate relationship going with What If ?
  6. Slayer and The Corrs Autechre and Pain of Salvation Frank Zappa and Beautiful South Mars Volta and Coldplay Wes Montegomery and Godspeed! You Black Emperor i'll listen to nearly anything except Country & Western and Pop. Variety is the spice of life :)
  7. i would advise to go just plain old veggie to start with, i.e. keep the eggs, milk and cheese in your diet (organic if you can or the very least, free range if you can) and just cut out the meat. Anyway, good luck with telling your parents and really hope you make the jump coz it's one well worth making.
  8. english fish and chips gets you does it ;)
  9. yep, i found that. first few months were hard work but after that it was plain sailing. not a week goes by that i don't think at some point "i'm soo glad to be a veggie!"
  10. We've played Speed of Sound at a couple of gigs now and second gig we did most people said it was their favourite song of the night !! (take that you SOS dissers ! lol  ). We're gagging to get in the studio again asap but can't afford it at the mo. SOS is one of the tracks we're gonna do though.
  11. Fix You on the drums (and also the acoustic guitar :)
  12. it was being a vegetarian that got me into curries - they are by far the best takeaway for vegetarians. and i'm pleased to say i've never eaten a meat curry in my life :-) nor have i ever had a kebab (and glad !!!)
  13. I'm a veggie (15 years) and delighted to be so !! I initially became veggie because of my disgust in the way animals are treat in the meat industry. I'm now happy to be veggie for many many reasons. Health being one of them. People ask me "what do you eat if you don't eat meat then !" and the answer is everything but meat !! People just seem to think that meat consitutes the largest part of diet when in reality it's only one part of a meal (mixed grill and bad diets apart). Take a sunday lunch - meat, roast potatoes, mash potatoes, carrots, peas, cauliflower, yorkshire puds - just take the meat out and you've still got loads of stuff. People ask "don't you miss the taste?". Frankly, no, not anymore. By and large meat doesn't actually taste of much - you need to treat it with salt and other flavourings to make it tasty. Constrast that with vegetables and it loses out big time in the taste factor. Vegetables and fruit provide and massive variety of flavours and meat offers little. The main thing most veggies miss about meat is the texture - just use quorn or tofu then. I personally prefer quorn. People give me grief for eating quorn "by eating quorn you obviously miss meat and if that's the case then you're not a vegetarian at all !" as if all veggies must detest meat or something !! crazy !! The most important thing that you do in your life is eat and drink. It happens several times a day EVERY single day of your life and if you're gonna put crap in your system then it'll run crap. I here sooo many people talk about how little fruit and veg they eat as if it's manly or something, yet they're slowly knackering there bodies !! idiots. Yet they'll put the most expensive oil in there cars to look after their engines. Since i became veggy i eat a 100 times more variety than i used to and my health is the better for it. We're not built to be meat eaters - we were always vegetarians until we started hunting and eating animals. Our digestive system is not built for meat - it can certainly deal with it, but not entirely. There's a stat about how much indigested read meat the average person carries around in their bowels - can't remember what it is, but it's not good for you !! One of the main contributory factors to bowel cancer is lack of fibre in the diet - meat doesn't give this in nowhere near the sme quantities as fruit and vegetables. You look up anything related to health and diet and it'll always say eat plenty of fruit and vegetables. I've found that being a vegetarian has made my diet healthy. Being a vegetarian, my advice is DO IT !! it'll be the best decision you'll make in your life. I personally still eat cheese and eggs and drink cow's milk but i only buy organic because this ensures the cows run free in the fields. Gelatine is one of the trickiest things to spot and also deal with not eating coz it means missing out on a lot of sweets :-) I've still yet to find chocolate covered marshmallow biscuits with jam in that don't have gelatine in and neither have i found gelatine free jelly babies - i miss them loads !!! It takes some perseverance at first, but stick at it and you'll eventually be delighted to have made the change.
  14. i found the whole album grew on me. first listen was so loaded with expectations despite my attempts for it to not be, that after i got over that listen and started to appreciate it for what it is, i began to enjoy every single track ten times more. It's often the sign of an excellent album when the first listen doesn't really hit you but then it just grows and grows until you find it awesome. I expect a lot of people to be changing their minds in the weeks to come ;) And yeah, the spoons part of Low is fantastic. How anyone dare to say Coldplay have lost the feeling is beyond me. I watched them on Johnathon Ross' show and then watched Jools afer and the difference between The Coral and Coldplay was lightyears. Even New Order, for me, failed to convey even a small degree of the passion that Coldplay produce.
  15. coral = shite. compared to coldplay they're just nowhere near. i've played with musicians far far better than the coral with far far better songs and that's just in pubs. how the hell can such a piss-boring band with such weak songs get a contract eh ? as for solo guy with his harmonica (can't remember his name) - i only saw him perform "hellhound" and was well impressed. now that's interesting music with originality. well enjoyed it.
  16. did watch the show straight after johnathon ross but they weren't on. on the plus side, i got to see rufus wainwright and the crazy acoustic ladyland (they're nuts !!). wasn't impressed with The Coral though - thought they were really really bland.
  17. it starts off sounding a bit like a vibraphone but then then sustain on the sound diminshes and it ends up sounding more like the bell on a hi-hat or something like that. IMHO anyway
  18. the most sensible commentary on the new album so far :) i've been listening to it in the car and that's where i've enjoyed it most. go for a night drive and give it a listen, it's even better !
  19. i've always suspected that in the early days they've played them on backing tapes or straight off a sequencer coz will used to start nearly every song clicking his sticks or hats. these days though i think they have someone off stage playing bits and bobs for them.
