well i remember spending a whole day memorising phrases you are meant to use in a formal letter. don't get me wrong i'm not saying its an easy exam. there's like parts where you have to understand people from different places and things like that. my point was that this didn't particularly help me to improve my english.
  6. i don't think this is true. just look at the unemployment rates in certain areas.:\ good luck mimi! hope you're gonna find a more interesting job soon! i guess it was the right decision. your health is certainly more important than the job. the pressure might be a good thing somehow because you have to think about what you want to do now. i worked in call centre and complained about it ever day. i did consider quitting, still i didnt really look for something else because it was convenient. i guess many people are like that.

i wouldn't worry about it. i took the test before i first went to england and i thought it was a bit a waste of time and money. i'd generally say do it if you're trying to get a job in germany. i don't think anyone in britain is gonna care really. if you wanna go to uni there [or in any other country] just apply and they'll tell you if you have to take an english exam. i doubt it's gonna be hard, you'd probably do better than some english students. it doesn't help you to improve your english, they just want you to memorise certain phrases. they'll teach you how to write formal letters and things like that. i personally didn't think it was helpful.
  8. you shouldn't have taken the uk as an example. probably the worst country in europe when it comes to guncrime. arent guns legal in canada?
  9. believe me, it does. it depends a lot on you're native country but it can be quite hard if you're foreign. my country has a completely different school system. we had to take like ten subject for A Levels and we didnt really get to choose them. this obviously makes it far harder to meet the grades. mrcool011 i don't know if its hard to get a visa if you're american but i doubt it. as far as universities are concerned it depends a lot on the course you want to do and on the universities you apply to. it very easy to get into some british universities and there are a few where its almost impossible to get in. as far europe the language might be an issue unless you're thinking of ireland. i cant speak of most european countries but i know that if you want to study in the german part switzerland, most of your lectures will be in german.
  10. true! didnt buy anything. its well annoying though, i had to queue for ages. they surely could have given me a different bag.
  11. his age doesnt matter if you think he is the right person for. having read what you said in this thread, i dont think you do. anyway what i wanted to say is that it might be awkward being friends with him. if he really sees you as more than a friend it probably isnt a good idea. its rather hard to deal with it if you see someone regularly and you know there is no way you can be with them. he might also think that you might change your mind because you must like something about him if you wanna spend time with him. i so know how you're feeling. unrequited love sucks.
  12. went to the one in st john's today and they said they didn't have any 100g bags:(
  13. another essay's finished, two left to do
  14. * i dont wanna stay up all night writing some stupid essay * why did they ask me a million times when they knew i couldnt come out * i fucking hate uni right now * its absolutely freezing in here * i cant wait for the next week to be over
  15. there you go :nice: http://news.woolworths.co.uk/newsletter/2008/cadbury/voucher/
  16. it was! the atmosphere was good after city won, less so after the second game.:\ they're probably not the fans you want though.
  17. congrats!
  18. i so know what you're talking about. there's this girl, a so-called friend of mine who is doing my head in.:dozey: i sometimes think she's actually trying to be her boyfriend. she completely changed her music taste since she's with him... same you said. she dresses differently since she's with him. and she actually tries to speak like him. she uses phrases she wouldn't have used a few months ago and things that no one outside liverpool would say. it sound so fake when she's saying it, its unreal. but the worst of all is that i like her boyfriend.:embarassed:
  19. watched both games at the pub today. the manchester derby was definitely the more entertaining one. congrats man city!
  20. what do you have from switzerland? and what from england?
  21. haven't been up to much. i've got loads of work to do for uni. been shopping with a friend today and got a new dress. i'm going to the pub tomorrow to watch the football and i gotta do some more work. damn assignments.
  22. not germany, switzerland. a german friend of mine is did her teacher training here. she was an assistant teacher in wavertree and she sometimes ended up with just two pupils. there were five girls doing german but they were absent quite a lot. i guess it depends on the area. many kids around here seem to be doing spanish because they think german is harder.
  23. i'm not sure what i'm gonna do after uni either. i consider becoming a teacher but i couldn't teach the subject i'm studying. i'm doing english literature at uni and no matter how well i do, english will never be my first language. i could go for german but i'm not sure because most people in britain don't seem to be interested in learning foreign languages.
  24. my friends just went there because of the football but they all thought it was great. i really wanna go there after i've seen their pictures.
  25. happened to me quite often. i'm surprised i can spell correctly at the minute because i'm quite drunk. and its half four in england so i'd better go to sleep.
