Its hard to understand that Coloratura doesnt fix in the setlist... The best song of the new album, something very creative and gets out of the concerts... :/

I agree with some of the opinions I've seen here and on Twitter. The fact that Coloratura has been left out is simply unacceptable. It's by far the best song on the album and it's just the only one they don't perform. I am quite worried about the setlist. It's something that has already been discussed a lot in the forum, but I don't think it's necessary to stop commenting on it. It is very sad to see that they have basically repeated the AHFOD tour, only changing the songs from one album to another. It is sad that they have left out EL, which has many songs with great potential and that most of them have not been able to see live. Arabesque or Trouble in Town would have been great alongside POTP (as would Violet Hill). Champion of the World would also have fit very well, and since they have put in the Bani Adam melody they had the intro done. I don't understand why they don't look for a better distribution of the songs that everyone can like. I understand that there are people who have never seen Coldplay or who only know 3-4 songs and who want to like the concert, but it is not necessary to include all the hits, because in the end you run out of space for the rest, and a band (especially if it aspires to last over time) is much more than a couple of hits on the radio or youtube. A setlist of 26 songs goes a long way, they could easily have done something like this: -The new full album (removing the short interludes are less than 10 songs) -8 or 9 hits (Yellow, Fix You, Viva la Vida... the ones we all know). Since they have more and they know them by heart, they can easily change them from show to show. -8 or 7 "old" songs (songs by XY, EL, GS, VIVA... the kind of songs that fans who have been listening to for a while like) With a distribution like this (more or less) you can offer a concert in which everyone leaves happy and not something that is 100% predictable and where lifelong fans have to go to pray and console ourselves with some "oddity" like an In My Place sung by Will... please, after so many years listening to the band, supporting them, buying their records, promoting them with friends, going to concerts... etc. we deserve more than a few crumbs on the setlist. ... It's my honest opinion as a fan, I hope I don't offend anyone. I say this with great affection towards the band, but sometimes they let me down. P.D: It seems from the videos that they use a lot of pre-recorded content in the songs, right?

Totally agree with you. But I have to say that the video is good. Do you think they are going to release a Cd/Vinyl of the single like My Unievrse and High Power?

Hi everybody! I remember that a few years ago, there was a complete section of downloads in this forum to find a download hundreds of Coldplay concerts. But now, with the new forum version, everything seems to be removed. Is it possible to get all this concerts back to the forum? I miss them...

Completely agree with you. I dont know why they release matterial after we have bought it that could be inside the CD/vinyl and release it only online. As a fan Im very dissapointing with that. I think they sould look after their fans and include this special bonus in the CD/vinyl, that are the conten which is mostly bought bay fans instead of the streaming and digital editions...

We have been talking about the new album for weeks and commenting on our ratings (and magazine reviews) in different threads, but I thought it would be interesting to know quantitatively the rating of the album that Coldplay fans make. Thats the point. EL has been their best album since Viva la Vida. Many people hoped that they will continued this road...

I think part of the criticism comes from the expectations behind EL that Coldplay had returned to its original sound (which is not the same as always doing the same thing) and in the end one finds that an album has been made markedly to sell . This is the case, a warner boss already warned us at the beginning of 2020. It is a complex matter, but I think that in the end trying to make music that everyone can like (which is what they have been playing for a long time) makes you lose your essence in a certain way. The subject of the collaborations would give for a long debate. My perception is that they seem to have a hard time creating hits without them. All the great songs (in terms of popularity and sales) in recent years have been collaborations: SJTL, HYM, SKFOS, MU ... it is a dangerous trend, especially when Coldplay is in a vicious circle where it must find how to continue selling more and more so as not to lose the throne of "the greatest band in the world".

After AHFOD Chris said that they wont release more "conventional albums" and I think he has kept the promise, so I think the next albums will be similar in this point. About the Vol. II, I hope will have a opposite direction and sound from Vol I, because this have been, sadly, awful...

Maybe its a future EP or single between MOTS vol. I and II.

I think is probably they will play some EL songs as they did with GS in AHFOD tour. I hope to hear Arabesque live... Trouble in Town and Champion of the world I think could fit good in the setlist. Moving to Mars, ALIENS and most of XY would also fit very well with this album "aura". Another tour full of hits would be awful in my opinion, they should do something more balanced. Politik and Violet Hill could also return to the stage after their break in AHFOD tour.

As we say in spanish "¡Bravo!" ?? I think the point its not doing another Parachutes or XY. Nobody expects that. But, as you said, we knoe Coldplay can do very good music: Arabesque and Coloratura show that and I think that are probably the best songs they have made in the last 10 years. We have another songs like Problem in Town, POTP or most of Kaleidoscope EP that show us how can sound Coldplay if they have continuated the road they had in Viva la Vida (in fact, I think that most of the best they have released in these years are demos and stuff from Viva la Vida like Arabesque, ALIENS or POTP). In fact, there are a lot od demos from Viva that could be a very good continuation of this great LP. They started MX as a acoustic album with this funny version of Charile Brown with accordion (a version that hope one day they will release...), but they decided to change to make other tipe of album and music with Paradise and Princess of China. In fact, there are a very clear line in Coldplay sound and music between Viva la Vida and MX. Ok, all are agree that Coldplay are free to do what they ant, and actually I think that they do what they want (in general...). But fans are also free to say if we like this new music or not, and I think that many of us doesnt like. I dont like the poppy sound or the electronic one, I like the rock or pop-rock that is what Coldplay used to be, and if Coldplay do pop songs I wont like that, it doesnt matter that is Coldplay, I dont like this type of music. Ans sadly, It seems as Coldplay now only knows making this type of poppy music full of colaborations and electronic efects. There will be people who like that, ok its fantastic. But I fell in love with jhonny guitar and the Chris voice without electronic edits, and this Coldplay seem to be vanished ? P.D: Would be interisting to do in the forum a poll about the album, to know what note has between fans...

Of course everyone have its own opinion. Its what we do here. For me most of the album are bad. Maybe others like the style of the songs, its ok, but not me. I would like to write more, but my poor english dont allow me to do that xD But we have to think that if there are some bad critics in this forum (when with El all we like it) and most of the reviews are very agressive with the album and suspend it with califications below the 5, maybe that is for some reason. Its easy to see I think.

I cant understand why do you see in "infinity sign" that most of you like this "song". Its jus synthesizer and people saying "olé olé". With the critics, I think that the point its not that they do new music or different styles. They have been doing that since the begginning. The main problem here is that what they do is, in general, very very bad. Its a very poor album. Very short and with lot of ¿padding?, I mean, songs that you fell that should not be there cause they dont mean nothing, are emptu, like Infinity Sign. Coldplay, and specially Chris Martin, has entered in to a poppy sound mix with lot of collaborations that yes, maybe they can came to nº1 in lot of harts and have lots of reproductions in spotify and youtube, but that will lead them to the path of musical irrelevance. Songs like Yellow or Fix You will remain in your memory for decades. SJLT or MU will soon be forgotten because they don't mean anything and every year a lot of the same songs are made. Its very sad that they only can win the º1 charts with collaborations. Sorry, Im very dissapointing with that. And dont understand why people said that the production is so good. What they do with people of the pride its awful! P.D: In Spain there is a mistake with Warner and the Album wont come until a few days... ?

Well, I think Guy is very honest and sows everything very clear with this album. Coloratura could be what the band whis to do and the singles and collaborations impositions of Warner...

I'm sorry to break the general positive climate towards the new LP, but after a first listen I have to say that it seems quite weak. I see it with the defects of EL (too "experimental" and heterogeneous) and AHFOD (too pop and empty sound). It just gives me the impression that there is half an album left over. I read many praising the song of the infinite sign, but what do they see? it is a monotonous synthesizer sound with people shouting in the background and very softly "olé olé" as if we were in a bullring or a football match. Musically what does that contribute? I see that it is an album where the synthesizer, electronic sounds and effects and Chris's voice distortion are abused too much, while Johnny's guitar and Guy's bass are hard to hear on many songs, aren't they a band of 4? I am very sorry about this, before most songs had a really cool guitar solo from Jhony and meolidos guitar and bass that one could follow. Now nothing. all very "chunda chunda", very electronic . The studio version of People of the Pride carries perhaps the best thing about this song: Chris's classic voice! In the live versions it was like traveling back to Viva la Vida, with the same intonation and tone as then, but the studio version loads all of that with distortions. Very disappointed to be honest, most of the songs don't sound like "coldplay" to me at all. I think this album and EL would have improved a lot if they had separated what are properly "songs" from "experiments". It is incredible, there is an "instrumental" track of clappes, but what the hell is this? For me, Coloratura, People of the Pride, Humankind are saved and in a second level of demand High Power and Let Somebody Go (which I expected much worse), the rest seems to me, in general, VERY expendable.
