  1. ^Yeah, but what I mean is, if adults are going to be scared of their own kids like that, just because of the groups, it's going to become a self-fulfilling prophesy. Mutual animosity followed by acting out. Sort of like everyone wears hoodies here, but over there, it's demonized, and has become a symbol. The adults made it a symbol by implying it was bad. I'm under no illusions about how destructive gangs can be. We've had some nasty swarmings around here lately- groups of kids suddenly materializing to brutally attack someone random just for the fun of it. But anyone will tell you those kids have had rough lives and need help, and no one's scared of kids in general because of them. Only of walking alone on the commons at night.
  2. Sounds like it's the adults that need an attitude adjustment. And you get packs of kids anywhere there's big groups of kids. It's not always healthy, but it's part of their nature. Just ask St. Augustine.
  3. :snore: He's just joking. And if he isn't, he should have a good long chat with his buddy Jay-Z. Isn't this repackaged from an old interview anyway? I remember those quotes from somewhere, but this article spins it all differently.
  4. I still say Atlantic is their best song.
  5. Chris doesn't. The other guys have, not sure how many if any of them have managed to quit.
  6. Now there's the understatement of the week.
  7. Hopefully. :nice: All These Things is greater than the Killers... which is saying nothing about them, just that it's one of those one in a million songs that no band could live up to.
  8. Keane was too powerful for them apparently. :(
  9. When a review is 1/3 whining about things that have little to nothing to do with the thing being reviewed and blatantly has a problem with the idea that something could be "life affirming" I'm not inclined to care about the rest of the opinion. Clearly this guy was in a snit when he wrote it.
  10. Here comes the sun, dah da da da, here comes the sun...and I say It's all right.. :sunny:
  11. Argh! Can't decide between Let Down and Reckoner. Both so good and so deserving. :bigcry:
  12. ^That's the Safety EP. The Ode to Deodorant demo was sent out all over the place- radio stations, a&r people... however, it was a demo from an unknown band and it was called "Ode to Deodorant". I think it's a safe bet that most of the copies ended up in the trash. I think the rare times that one has surfaced on Ebay, it's gone for a few hundred dollars. No idea how much it would get now that the song is out on the internet.
  13. Any news on the address? Canada Post just went on strike () so the sooner I send mine the better a chance of it ever getting through during any timeframe.
  14. I love how you can tell (roughly) what time each album came out by the enduring member spike.
  15. Very nice. Trust me, you'll have a blast. The X&Y tour was amazing when I saw it, and they've only gotten better since then.
  16. I think she said once before that her band was going to be touring. If she's on the road, she'll be far away from a net connection. I think we'll see her again.
  17. :laugh3: Why Texas? Have fun. :D
  18. Come on! Vote Arcade Fire, guys! ARCADE FIRE! Even Oasis would give us a much better chance in the competition. No offense to Keane fans, but they're a bit more polarizing than some of the others. THINK OF THE TAPE, GUYS.
  19. WET PAINT! :laugh3: :laugh3: :laugh3: Sorry, couldn't help myself. :embarassed::laugh3:
  20. *coughlookfor[MM]onescough*
  21. Sorry to hear that. :( If you look at almost any successful band's bio though, usually all the members have had at least one or two other bands in their past that have broken up. It's actually what has given them the experience they needed to be in a band that worked. And if a band has personalities that clash, it's a recipe for self-destruction the moment they have the tiniest bit of success if they even last that long, so probably healthy to get it out of the way sooner than later. If you've got the talent and the will, do your homework- keep practicing and getting better, keep writing, and keep in touch with the music community as best you can. That way when the next door opens, you'll be ready for it. :D Hope I don't sound too preachy, but I really do think it's true.
  22. Season 2, first episode. It's called "New Earth". [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qCpXkW0ICqE]YouTube - Doctor Who - Cassandra[/ame]
  23. Me too! :nice: Fingers crossed.
