Has the Global Financial Crisis Affected You? in Anyway?
Yeah, my parents retirement savings have taken a pretty hard blow by the sound of it. It means they may not be able to retire in the next couple of years like they were hoping to. On the other hand, if things get really bad and layoffs are going around, they may be forced into early retirement anyway, which wouldn't be good.

Day old popcorn
Mmmnn... It entirely depends on the quality of the popcorn says I. Although it will probably get eaten anyway, being popcorn..

Oh look, it's an elephant!
That's a pretty good one. The classic answer is that you can smell the peanutbutter on his breath.

Fixing the Economic Mess
^I'm guessing he was being sarcastic...? The problem with any system is that it is a system and it involves people. Therefore it is automatically flawed.

What can I say... I have a low tolerance for being sworn at repeatedly. *shrugs*

I Still Havn't Voted Yet!....GRAB MY ATTENTION!
It always amuses me that a guy named "HorrificAttack" would come across more like an attacking toothless weasel- occasionally irritating, but ultimately pointless and ineffective.

Oh look, it's an elephant!
^ Don't get it. And it's not one of the elephant jokes. Like how do you know if there's an elephant in your refrigerator?

Hey, anyone know any good elephant jokes? They're lame, but I love them.

it's been a bad day, please don't take a picture
This thread title pretty much sums me up this evening. Nothing like feeling tired and icky and having bad weather to make you look that way too.

I've heard it said that university is where A students teach mainly B students how to work for C students. In my limited experience it seems to be true- the people who are the most successful are the ones who didn't necessarily get very good grades or fit into the academic box, but who had a lot of talents that school of any kind can't teach or quantify. Grades don't have much to do with who you are or aren't. I know how you feel though... I just got a test back today that I thought I had aced, and it turns out I don't really even know how to do a couple of the major problems on it. :embarassed:  Hooray for more extra studying this week. :bomb:

Albums of the Year: 2008
That is a very good question. Last year eps of exclusively original material were allowed. The year before no eps were allowed. BUT nothing previously released or live was allowed, and Prospekts March is not entirely new so even if they are allowed, it probably won't count. Hmm. I'll get back to you on it.

born to be: coldplay on muchmusic
Well, considering how fluffy a show it usually is, I'm not exactly expecting much...

What's under your bed?
At the moment along with many, many other things, a lot of old shoes that need to be taken care of. They stick out from under the bed and I keep stubbing my toes on them.

Just a general question...
when you discover a new band or solo artist (that you've never gave a listen even if they've been working since decades) for a friend advice, you hear them randomly somewhere... 1. do you tend to like most the first works you've heard of them and so the first album you hear of them? It depends on what I hear first. For instance I heard Mando Diao's most recent at the time album when I first discovered them and didn't like it very much, but later on discovered how astoundingly brilliant their very first album was, and that's my favorite. I still don't care for their later stuff. On the other hand there are plenty of bands that I got into their later stuff but not their earlier, even though some people consider the earlier stuff superior. 2. do you get to become interested and to know further about their works (previous and newest works, collaborations, other works related with music or arts)? I usually try to get an idea of their range. 3. if so you end liking their first albums or the lastest? Depends on the band, the introduction, and the quality of their various works. 4. you get to like a band just for a mood you are when you listen it, so when your mood changes you don't use to listen them that often? Mood specific bands, yes- I have to wait for that mood or a time when I'm willing to get into that mood to listen. Stars and the Shins are two big ones, I have days I love them to bits and others I just can't stand how quiet or poppy they are. 5. if they've collaborated with other bands like being their producer or song-writer for some songs, you end liking those bands too, may be because you kind of consider them as a copy or other side of the same artist that you'd like to know too, or you like them for their similar but orignal work? I will often look up other bands they have worked with. Whether I like the other stuff or not depends on the other stuff. 6. if the songs are in a foreign language you try to learn it? or you just like that artist for the music they play and you don't care about the lyrics at all. I love it when I don't know what the singer is saying. It lets me focus on the sounds of the words rather than the words themselves, so I appreciate the song in a totally different way. I think it's a habit I picked up listening to music in Gaelic as a kid. Besides, misheard lyrics can be so much fun [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VWqC4KKiVbU]YouTube - Doctor Who (Ten) - Caramelldansen misheard lyrics[/ame] :sneaky: 7. and about the other artistical skills, you like them because they are really talented on it too, or just because you like their music and so you support them no matter what they do (painting, photography, writing...). I like music if there's something to it that I like. Whether it's because it's really creative, or it makes the little hairs on the back of my neck stand up, or it's emotionally moving, or there's some little thing they're doing with the chords I like, or it has a lot of energy. Basically I like it or I don't.
