A Parachutes 'moment'
^I do. Fairly often, actually, considering how rarely I listen to Coldplay these days.

Pseudo(nym) Psychology
Why soda and not pop? And what about couch vs. sofa?

Laundry Detergent
^According to evolutionary biologists, that means you're a good match for each other. :P A lot of the time just shaving cream or fancy deodorant can do the trick though... almost everything is scented these days. As for detergent I use fragrance free stuff when I can, otherwise the least smelly stuff on the shelf- headaches and ichy skin aren't fun. And most scents smell like bug spray to me.

A Parachutes 'moment'
I just had the most wonderful Parachutes moment today completely out of the blue. I hadn't listened to it in ages and somewhere between Yellow and Trouble the thought hit me like a lightning bolt: "This is why I love music." Corny, but true.

Signature and Avatar Requests.
Classy stuff, guys. I'm impressed. For anyone who wants basic online photoshop-like tools without the fuss, here's an awesome site: http://fotoflexer.com/ I meanwhile have the opposite quandry- plenty of photoshop skills, no ideas at all. My poor little hat man is lonely :hat2: and I've been racking my brain for months. What should I do? I like quirky not too sincere things and bright colours, if that's any help. It's not a specific effect. You get it by playing around with the colour levels (enhance > adjust brightness/contrast > levels, and change the colour channels one at a time) the contrast, hue, lightness, and saturation. You just need to experiment with different things. I have photoshop elements 2.0 and I can do it. It's just not a preset at all- it's all in the enhance menu.

Do you actually believe there is such thing as a "soul mate"
No, I don't believe in one true love- because there are lots of good potential matches that could turn into "true love" and I think ultimately love is a choice. It mainly depends on how compatible your personalities are, where you are in your lives, how much you are both willing to put into the relationship... The thing is even "true love" takes a lot of work and self-sacrifice and compromise to hold it together. Love means both people putting the other before themself; it means shared time and shared memories, not just a warm, fuzzy infatuated feeling that will go away in a couple of years (because it always does). Of course those are ideas our society seriously isn't ok with these days. You're supposed to put yourself first-do what you want and what makes you feel good- and love is a feeling you feel in your guts (or at least your pants). Nearly 50% divorce rate... working really well, don't you think?

Is Chris okay?
Uh... no. There's nothing on the BBC. And he is in America. But something is up: Coldplay postpones Tampa concert

Raleigh preview article: How Coldplay became the first band to beat the digital deficit
It means that smaller bands at indie labels had close relationships with their fans first, Coldplay have just copied them on a much bigger scale in a way that has worked very well. I wonder if anyone should point that joker in the direction of the archive of Coldplay's old Parachutes-era blog...? Heh... found it- why this guy's point is a load of crap: http://web.archive.org/web/20010331065839/www.coldplay.com/journalpage.shtml They were doing the same sort of things 9 years ago.

Asbo for 14-year-old girl who drank 12 cans of strong lager EVERY NIGHT
Screwing up is one thing (and yes she did screw up). Plenty of teenagers screw up with alcohol- she's right on that count. But not like her. Something is very wrong, and if that is the case it needs special medical treatment or she will never cope even if she wants to try. If it was an excuse it would mean you would go on doing the horrible thing you did or pass it off as something minor. If it's a medical condition she needs a doctor and probably a good psychologist so that she will be able to stop. FAS is a form of brain damage- the sort you don't recover from and the sort you never had any control over to begin with, not just some lame excuse. An piece of paper or whatever an asbo is can't heal a broken leg, and it can't heal a broken mind however hard it tries- they're both physical problems whether you can see them or not.

Very backhanded article... amazing how it can act like it's praising them so highly, but actually insult them every chance it gets like that...:dozey:

That article makes me wonder if she might have fetal alcohol syndrome. Scolding won't do much good when someone was born addicted... especially if she doesn't even know it.

RIP Jennifer/Nettie
Oh my goodness. I was watching videos of Kasabian at Glastonbury just a few days ago and there she was front and centre, impossible to miss, as always. I wondered what she had been up to lately but her site was down when I went to look. I had no idea... She was a force of nature even on a messageboard with typing. I can only imagine what she must have been like in person. Heh I remember when she actually talked her way into the Brit awards (was it?) a few years ago. Wow. This boggles the mind.

Metric
^Good review. :nice: I have to say watching how they worked the crowd, I think I understand alot more about why certain music is the way it is... but that philosophizing can wait till tomorrow after I've had sleep.
