Egyptian Uprising
We did it! I can't believe it, I never thought I'd see the day that Mubarak wasn't President of Egypt. For the first time in a long time, I'm proud to be Egyptian. Now the hard work begins. We must never let this happen again. WE ARE FREE!

Egyptian Uprising
The pro-Mubarak demonstrators are mostly made up of the vile, corrupt, murderous security forces. They're taking over some army vehicles. THIS IS ALL PART OF THE GOVERNMENT! They're trying to silence us!!

All options sound pretty good to me, if the guy is hot enough. Though the threesome maybe a bit too much. :nice:

The 7th Mixtape Exchange (1ST POST UPDATE)
Hi there! I made your tape, glad you liked it overall :) Here's the tracklist: 1- The Black Angels- Young Men Dead (Passover, 2006) Quite a beast of a track this, really grabs you from the opening bassline. They're a psychedelic rock band from Texas. I noticed you like The Black Keys and BRMC, so I thought you might enjoy this. 2- The Radio Dept. Heaven's on Fire (Clinging To A Scheme. 2010) Shoegaze/pop band from Sweden. This track always puts me in a good mood, its off their latest album, which was one of my favourite releases this year. 3- Deerhunter- Never Stops (Microcastle, 2008) I would still recommend you check this guys out, even if this didn't do that much for you. They've released 3 terrific albums. If you're interested, check out their latest one, Halycon Digest :) 4- Gang of Four- Damaged Goods (Entertainment!, 1979) One of the seminal punk bands, off their classic debut. Everyone from Bloc Party to Franz Ferdinand has been influenced by these cats. I understand about the vocals, though; that's usually what puts people off punk. 5- The Walkmen- We've Been Had (Everyone Who Pretended to Like Me is Gone, 2002) The Walkmen appeared around the same time as the big New York scene with The Strokes and Interpol, but never got the same coverage. They're similar to The National in that they have cynical humour in their lyrics. The singer has a timeless quality to his voice, even though he sounds like a drunk :P Also! If you're interested, check out their song The Rat which I think is one of the best singles of the last decade. I'm rambling a little I know, but I really think these guys deserve more love :P 6- Ted Leo and the Pharmacists- St. John the Divine (The Tyranny of Distance, 2004) Ted Leo has been writing great rock music since the late 90s, and he does play a mean guitar, as you noticed. The Tyranny of Distance, the album this is taken from, is a good place to start. 7- The Clientele- The Queen of Seville (God Save the Clientele, 2007) Really, really happy you liked this! Super underrated band from London. They make great reverb-rich dream pop. I highly recommend them :) 8- Tim Hecker- Chimeras (Harmony in Ultraviolet, 2006) I'm not too into ambient music, but I really love this track. I find it very haunting and beautiful. 9- Crippled Black Phoenix- We Forgotten Who We Are (I, Vigilante, 2010) A band made up of musicians from many other bands, including Mogwai. This track absolutely blew my socks off when I first heard it. 10- TV on the Radio- Mr. Grieves (Young Liars EP, 2003) Rap, rock, electronica, TV on the Radio can do anything! Including A Capella covers of a Pixies song :P I recommend everything these guys have done. Truly great band. I really enjoyed making this tape and I'm glad you liked it overall. I did consider adding a couple more tracks to it, but I liked the flow and order of it (which you picked up on) so decided against it. So, thanks for listening and reviewing and get well soon! :nice: Here's the link: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=F8QGKXZT

The 7th Mixtape Exchange (1ST POST UPDATE)
Hi there! Nice to meet you :nice: Wow I really didn't recognise Arcade Fire and Yo La Tengo AT ALL! :stunned: I've been meaning to get into Sufjan, Belle & Sebastian and Fucked Up, so I should thank you for including them as well hehe I'll give it some more listens, maybe the songs I wasn't keen on will grow on me. But I really enjoyed it! Thank you :)

Blues, Jazz and Country thread
I've always loved Jazz, the classics like Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Duke Ellington. Top top stuff. One of my favourites: [ame= ] [/ame] I also enjoy blues, but don't know too much about it. I like the Black Keys, but would like to get into the older stuff more, I really enjoyed John Lee Hooker and Howlin' Wolf.

The 7th Mixtape Exchange (1ST POST UPDATE)
Hello mixtape partner! Firstly, thanks for the mixtape. There was a Christmas theme to the tape, which I didn't realise at first (even though the title should've given it away :wacky: ) Anyway, here's the track by track review! 1)Slow, mellow start with piano and accordion and some male vocals. Builds up till around the 2 minute mark then drums and guitar kick in. A great opener! 2) Piano and guitar. Very jolly, Christmas tune. I like it, dunno if I'd listen to it that much, though. 3)Bass heavy intro. Nice vocals and a very joyous song (obviously). I like the horns and clap-a-long ending. I quite like it. 4)Electro and xylophone intro, and then interchanging boy-girl vocals. Quite dancy. 5)I recognise the vocals, but I can't place it...is it the dude from Eels? I quite like it. Unfortunately, the track details are listed. It says James Horner, but I'm sure it's Mark Everitt now. 6) Jingle Bells! Hehe, I like the demo-like feel. Sounds like a family messing around the piano after a meal. 7)Fleet Foxes :) Lovely song. 8)A girl's voice starts it off on top of some sleigh bell cymbals, and then joined in by more vocals. Not sure how I feel about this, it's nice but yeah, I'm a bit lukewarm towards it. 9)Piano and a man singing with some group female vocals. A nice song overall with a warm feeling to it. 10)Again I recognise the vocals, but can't place them! Quite drum/cymbal heavy. I like it, especially the part that starts at around 0:52. Good, fun song for the holidays :) 11)Starts off with acoustic guitar and dual female vocals. I like their voices (or maybe it's just one amplified..hmm). Simple song with cute lyrics. 12)Hehe, this is funny. Like track 6, it sounds like a family singing 12 Days and mucking around after Christmas dinner. Hard not cheer up after this. I like the animal sounds haha. I assume this is from a John Peel session as I hear him afterwards. A great, great man. 13)Haha, this a funny little curio. I like it; odd, with slightly zany lyrics :wacky: 14)Do they Know it's Christmas Time At All? A decent song for a good cause but at 30 minutes, it's a little too much after a while... 15)I like this a lot, especially the banjo. Unfortunately, the track info is still there =/ I've been meaning to get into Sufjan properly and I've liked what I've heard by him so far. Including this! :) 16)Until the 2 minute mark, I was beginning to think this was a bit repetitive, but it picks up after that. I like the guy's voice, I think I may have heard it before as well...Quite a nice song. 17)Starts off with a sound bite from a movie maybe and radio feedback. Music starts after 45 seconds or so. The singer has a good voice, and I like the part that starts from 1:51. Overall, quite a nice song. 18)The girl has a nice voice. I like the drums in the back. After a while, I realise the singing is quite creepy and halfway through, the music gets quite eerie too. An interesting change in feel. I quite like it! 19)This has an old fashioned feel to it somehow, but it's modern I think. I like their vocals and the guitar. There could be a problem with the audio quality on this one, though; it cuts out near the beginning. 20)The beats and synths give this song a real 80s feel, maybe it is 80s? Its a nice pop song, but it doesn't seem to fit in with the Christmas/winter theme of the rest. Maybe that's the idea? 21) Crackly intro with quite atmospheric feel to it all. Nice touch to put the new year's song at the end. Its a nice song, but it's not really my cup of tea :/ The singer has a very good voice, though. So again, thanks for the mixtape. I will be giving it a few more listens, some of the songs weren't really my thing, but overall I enjoyed listening to it! I liked the idea of a theme, and it shows a lot effort was put in to compile over 20 songs on a particular theme. I respect that :)
