  2. Yellow - 92 + Trouble - 10 -
  3. VLV sounds AWESOME live there. Songs like that almost make me cry watching them on youtube.. Live, I'm gonna be a WRECK.
  4. Yellow - 92 (+) Trouble - 10 (-)
  5. Chris Martin, a British vocalist and lyricist, has not written an entire album about US politics. End of THAT discussion. The album has a clear message, and that is its title: Live life. 1. Life in Technicolor - nothing lyrical to analyse here, but the music is incredibly upbeat and the title suggests that the song is meant to be played over a happy moment. 2. Cemeteries of London - to me is all about that "for my heart it wasn't open" line, imploring people to look a bit deeper than the shallow surface of (city) life. 3. Lost! - back to upbeat again, although with more sinister undertones: it's an ode to perseverance but he still says he's waiting for the shine to wear off. 4. 42 - imo one of the keystone tracks lyrically. The way I see it, it's about regret at the end of your life and how you have to deal with death (and his friends) without stalling on it too much. 5. Lovers in Japan - a beautiful call to arms, asking people to stick it out and suggesting for the first time overtly that there's an ESCAPE to be found. Reign of Love - another song about regret, but this time about regretting not getting out of an incomplete relationship and getting trapped inside it. 6. Yes - another escape to be found, this time in the arms of a girl that represents temptation, has Chris hoping, pleading for that escape to come to fruition. Chinese Sleep Chant - strangely enough I think the lyrics here are really important. Again, it's about an escape - that of sleep - and the idea that there's always some way to get away from things. 7. Viva La Vida - First title track, another ode to regret, and how you have to appreciate the things you have when you've got them, else you'll lose them and stop 'ruling the world'. A pretty simple concept eloquently and elegantly explored, but it still comes down to a message of living life. 8. Violet Hill - REALLY important lyrically, it seems to me to be asking everybody that listens to it to take a little bit of time making your feelings known. In the context of what seems to me to be a war situation, it's all the more dramatic, but in its simplest form the hook, 'won;t you let me know' is the key line. 9. Strawberry Swing - Here Martin takes a bit of a different tack, although the main line of thought is basically the same. He suggests that it's a perfect day but to me the important part is when he mentions curving away. It's a suggestion that to make things good you have to make things happen, and that letting things slide never works out well - just like in Violet Hill, positive action is needed. 10. Death and All His Friends - Very, very easy to understand. The first part is a little 'example', so to speak, with Chris saying that sometimes you just need to appreciate when things are really good. And the end, the most powerful vocals on the whole album, and basically the last, is just one last call to arms: that we can't just keep on the same slog day in, day out; that we can't just keep fighting the same people in the same cycles every morning; that we can't just give in and let life take us away - we have to take it in our own hands. The Escapist - And, in the end, we lie awake and we dream of making our escape. Or do we? Is that all we can do? Can we just sit here and dream about it, or can we ACTUALLY DO IT? And musically, we're back to where we started...but have we learnt something? I hope so.
  6. Well, I read somewhere (I'm SURE of it) the wording that the video would be 'available' today. Probably means on the official site. Put it this way: if they wait 'till August they're IDIOTS (their marketing people, that is) They'll sell more singles if they release the video today and it's on music channels by next week.
  7. Exactly the same as Crizgo except it was a lot earlier than X&Y coming out, a lot lot earlier.
  8. I am SO impressed with that. It's just not cheesy in any way at all, which I didn't think was possible, but that is AWESOME. Grats on one of the best things I've read in a long time.] "The Scientist may be right about Lovers In Japan, but he's wrong about you and me." SICK.
  9. I definitely hear the words: "But I'm still gonna love you when I die" I liiiike :]
  10. How it's not on an album...
  11. Other Acoustic Songs So, so far they've played Yellow, The Hardest Part, Green Eyes and The Scientist alongside DWNC in the acoustic gigs. What songs does everyone think are also on the agenda for it? Politik? Haha. I'm holding out for Shiver & Warning Sign, maybe Amsterdam?!
  12. I'll admit I was a bit of a pussy and changed the original post 'cause I found it too hard. But here goes: Parachutes Sparks: I won't let you down...oh, yes, I will, yes, I will, yeah Rush of Blood Politik: Give me love over, love over, love over this X&Y Fix You: Lights will guide you home, and ignite your bones, and I will try to fix you Viva La Vida Strawberry Swing: Don't you wanna just curve away? And I've obv changed the OP too.
  13. No. Really, if you'd heard me play piano. There's is no way I can show off.
  14. Well I sing. And play piano. So...
  15. What do you guys think is the best line on each LP? For me, it would probably be as follows: Parachutes Sparks: I won't let you down...oh, yes, I will, yes, I will, yeah Rush of Blood Politik: Give me love over, love over, love over this X&Y Fix You: Lights will guide you home, and ignite your bones, and I will try to fix you Viva La Vida Strawberry Swing: Don't you wanna just curve away?

  18. I would certainly say that Gravity, Crests of Waves, Proof and I Ran Away are worthy of the album spots of some less incredible songs. Twisted Logic, TKC, Daylight, maybe Spies.
  19. Haha. Yeah, I HAVE like everything they've ever recorded and a lot of live versions on top of that. It just never, ever stood out before as being anything more than music, filler music at that. S'awesome though. Eek, how good is the first line?! "It could be worse, I could be alone."
  20. Has anybody else had any sort of, random changes of heart about Coldplay songs? This track never meant all that much to me before but it just came on StreamPlay and I can't stop repeating it on iTunes now. I wonder why on Earth that is.
  21. I asked what kind of injections they give Chris to sedate him when offstage.
  22. Prospekt's March is a better title, I thinnnnnnnk.
  23. Omg Zemy your Strawberry Swing is EXACTLY the same as mine. Weird! Awesome! I picture DAAHF starting on a rooftop, Chris playing piano with traffic passing below, on like a main road or something, then in the instrumental there's loads of clips of the city moving quickly, then at the chorus at the end it's like a RAPID montage of people arguing which ends in some dramatic fashion. LIJ needs a video too. A Message I see as being really conceptual, just the band playing in total darkness. Politik I always picture loads of images of space and Earth and the stars and really impersonal things, but then at the end the camera zooms in on this one couple sat in a park on a bench.
  24. LOVED the interview, so funny, actually made me lol at times.
