It gets more and more real in varying degrees for me every day I'm alive. I think the first thing that ever turned me onto actually being interested in music rather than just letting the radio decide would be drive-thru pop-punk like Allister and Mest getting me through hard times in college. I'm never going to forget how amazing those songs felt and they're all still on every playlist I create. I think I really started to be fascinated by music around the time I got Final Straw - that would be a couple of weeks after its release. The BIG one was in 2005. September 10 2005 was a really difficult fucking day for me for a LOT of reasons and music's almost the only reason I was still OK the next morning. The song I think I'll always remember falling in love with music to was David Gray - Freedom. Upon the first listen of X&Y, Fix You absolutely stopped me dead. I was laid on my bed staring at the ceiling as is my custom with every new album I buy and track 4 was like some sort of religious experience. Unforgettable. Kid A was the first time I was ever AMAZED by an album and was able to talk about music rather than just listen and feel removed from this planet. For a long time I was unable to appreciate it but I think when it just clicked in my head I really started thinking about music as a large part of my life. Being introduced to Death Cab changed my whole perspective of basically everything in the whole world. Ben Gibbard is so inside my head and it's struck me in the last 3 years listening to their stuff how many people music reaches. Then I fell in love with Peyton from One Tree Hill and realised quite how important music has become to me. And today I listened through the proper tracklisting of The Photo Album for the first time ever and I reckon I've fallen a little bit further.

Look left, kid. :P

The Photo Album, Transatlanticism and Plans are all in my top 20 albums of all time. By far the best thing this side of music in the last decade, in my opinion.

I've never really taken 'Stadium Rock' as having inherently negative connotations :P Bully :D

Erm, am I missing Kele being ironic? As far as I can see he's actually saying he likes it, not being sarcastic lol. Bloc Party are one of the best bands in the world at the moment, don't hate yO.

How strange. I've only just discovered these guys along with The New Pornographers. Loving their stuff so far though; any recommendations would be appreciated.

Bored of people arguing in favour of Coldplay doing everything the 'right' way, following rules and playing to the masses. DAAHF as the next single, please, kids. Take a risssssssk.

For some reason I have always been waiting for Coldplay and Bloc Party to do something together. I think that would create the most interesting fusion of music the world has ever seen.

I'll tell you, that video has succeeded in making Lost! one of my favourite Coldplay songs.

Probably the best album of the year so far is Death Cab - Narrow Stairs, closely followed by VLV and Bloc Party - Intimacy. I'm fairly sure All-American Rejects - When The World Comes Down and Snow Patrol - A Hundred Million Suns will be in there somewhere, too.

It has to be the 3 in my signature. Mostly, though: "Questions of science, science and progress, do not speak as loud as my heart." Yet to find a truer sentiment in the whole world.
