  1. I genuinely hope they tour again, the only time I saw them was in 2006 and I don't remember much about it. I do hope I get to see Coloratura live.
  2. IMO Everyday Life is their best since Viva, but Mylo is super underrated. Certainly my favorite of their albums in between Viva and EL. Who knows, this might surpass it in quality.
  3. Here's the demo of the Man Who Swears: It seems that most of the lyrics from the first verse are retained or slightly changed (but I'm pretty sure he's not --> unbelievers will be shot) and the second verse's lyric and melodies, including the incredibly Viva-esque lyric "Heaven is a fire escape you try to cling to in the dark". I don't know if it carries over but Chris' little do-do-dos are mimicked in People of the Pride by Jonny's Guitar in the last few measures.
  4. If it is instrumental I hope it's something like Light Through the Veins, where it just repeats one motif over and over but adds on new layers each time. One of my favorite Hopkins tracks.
  5. I've heard the full song live and it doesn't really sound like The Man Who Swears. The lyrics are very similar, though. And it's quite an interesting song - there's no chorus as far as I know and the X&Y synths are back. Lyrically it's better than the two main singles released. Also I can't tell properly because of the poor audio quality but I think there's a horns section?
  6. IMO seeing it as a cash grab is quite cynical. Obviously the bands didn't collaborate for the sake of art, but I don't think it was for money either. BTS have idolized Coldplay for quite a while now and Coldplay's message is all about breaking barriers and diversity. You know what seems more like a cash grab? Something Just Like This. This collaboration, while obviously not the best song, is far superior production wise and the motives feel a lot more organic rather than forced.
  7. Daddy vs Everglow
  8. also I'd say that the leaked version (which is the demo) is much better than SJLT, and the final version sounds much more improved and polished.
  9. Friendly reminder that THIS monstrosity exists:
  10. Death and All His Friends vs God Put a Smile Upon Your Face
  11. Clocks vs Don't Panic
  12. Politik vs Twisted Logic
  13. I hope we're in for another Don't Let it Break Your Heart - they haven't done those types of songs in a while
  14. We don't even know if Infinity Sign is an instrumental or not, so I think it would be more along the lines of: - Music of the Spheres - Color Spectrum - God = Love - Ode to Deodorant
  15. Probably Higher Power, Viva La Vida, A Sky Full of Stars, Fix You Although the band know we all want the setlist to be: Higher Power Higher Power (Tiesto Remix) Higher Power (Acoustic Version) Higher Power (ZHU Remix)
  16. Charlie Brown vs Hurts Like Heaven
  17. Coloratura is probably one of the best songs they've ever done, but IMO no Coldplay song beats Clocks. Clocks vs The Scientist
  18. Viva La Vida vs Don't Panic
  19. I wouldn't say its slander, but even though I like this song it has a lot of the trademark complaints people made about 2000s Coldplay: high Chris Martin falsettos, really slow tempos, predominant use of the piano, honest lyrics that aren't complex, etc. Like how most people still see (and hate) Coldplay as a boring, whiny band with basic lyrics that only uses piano in really slow songs. I still really like Proof, though. Second best X&Y b-side after Gravity, which is one of their best.
  20. Glass of Water vs Don't Let it Break Your Heart
  21. DAAHF vs Glass of Water
  22. Didn't he produce it though? It's in the credits of the song anyway, so stop pretending that he didn't. Obviously his main goal is to make pop songs but stop pretending that he didn't have anything to do with this. Excellent production all around, even Higher Power had better production than most of their other poppy stuff.
  23. Thought you guys might want to read this. I don't know anything about music theory at all, but it's good to see the band getting recognition from actual Emmy-winning composers and other people of that nature. Check it out! https://www.stereogum.com/2156845/coldplay-coloratura-music-theory/columns/in-theory/
  24. 1. In My Place 2. Church 3. Shiver 4. Birds 5. Cemeteries of London 6. Magic 7. Paradise 8. What If TBD: Humankind I usually don't count transition tracks as part, so MX/HLH and MOTS/HP are one track.
