🪐 Coldplay: Music of the Spheres 🪐 | Out Now! | Discussion
I don't think views are everything in determining the quality of a song. Some of the band's best songs/music videos are their least viewed and least listened to, and that doesn't take away from it's quality - maybe it's just what people prefer (I also prefer Ink over Everglow Live, but I don't mind about it having more views). If the BTS collaboration gets more views that Violet Hill/Trouble in Town/Shiver, I don't think its much of a bad thing. Plus, unlisting it would mean that it will probably vanish from YouTube due to their new rules being implemented.

Track 12 - Coloratura | Music of the Spheres
First bolded Coldplay song since Clocks! Although hopefully Strawberry Swing gets bolded as well. Though its rating is the highest among any Coldplay song there, there's still people giving it 0.5-2 stars purely out of the fact that it's Coldplay.

Interesting, because if it's a hidden track as some are speculating, none of the remaining tracks have the length needed for a hidden track, and the one that does we've already heard. But I do think it might be a hidden track, so how could they pull that off? If they manage to hide it completely from the tracklist and only include it when you play the album in full on release day, I'll be very impressed. Also, please let it be THE RACE!

Agree! I don't think TKC functions well as an album closer and Twisted Logic is a much better closing song.

Openers: Politik Mylo Xyloto/Hurts Like Heaven Square One A Head Full of Dreams Don't Panic Life in Technicolor Sunrise Music of the Spheres/Higher Power Always in My Head Closers: Death and All His Friends/The Escapist Coloratura Amsterdam Everyday Life Everything's Not Lost/Life is for Living Up&Up O/Fly On Up With the Birds Til Kingdom Come Through making this I've just realized how good their album openers/closers are, especially their closers. Up With the Birds is second last but is still such a good song, as are O and Til Kingdom Come.

Track 12 - Coloratura | Music of the Spheres
A Sky Full of Stars and Ink are great pop songs, especially Ink, which is my second favorite from the album. But sonically, lyrically, and instrumentally Coloratura is far better. Hell, I'd even say it's in their top three of all time.

Track 12 - Coloratura | Music of the Spheres
Finally someone mentioned Touch and Paul Williams! This song reminded me so much of that, as well as Pink Floyd's Us and Them. There's a part in the middle of Coloratura which reminded me of the disco/dancey segment in the middle of Touch.

Music Of The Spheres Track List
Personally I don't mind it. They've done this before with Til Kingdom Come (+), Colour Spectrum, and BrokEn. - at least it looks more mysterious than cringe/pandering. But, it does make tracklisting and naming songs hassle. "Ok we're going to play a new song next, it's titled♾️" "Yeah dude, my favorite Coldplay song is✨"

not sure how reliable this is. The article says these were being spread by fans plus some titles here I know have been theorized by the fans in this very forum (Musica Universalis, To the Moon and Back, Colours of the World). Plus I think Life is Beautiful is much later in the album order.

can you give us any hints? Like if there's piano, acoustic, etc.?

I'd think September 17 is a better guess. September 17 = Friday = new music? 12 could be the number of tracks as far as we know. Also might want to take a look at another number Chris mentioned: 917 or 9/17? That's the more reasonable guess.

The boys were spotted filming something in Barcelona yesterday. Large Kaotican graffiti as well as that of other languages, which might include Spheric. Thoughts?

Don't know if anyone else saw this but someone posted this in the discord. Angel Lopez (who helped with the production on EL, participating in the creation of Orphans and COTW) said that apparently during the EL recording sessions (or maybe even MOTS because we don't know how far back that project goes), Thundercat and Lianne La Havas were also in the studio? I know La Havas is already a huge fan and also opened for them during a leg in their AHFOD tour. The timestamp is at 6:00, if you guys want to check it out. If this was during the recording for MOTS then we could see an album with a ton of collaborations, but I think a lot of them are going to be really, really promising. As of now we already have: - Max Martin (Higher Power and potentially others) - Jacob Collier (Human Heart and maybe others) - We Are King (Human Heart) - BTS (My Universe - not confirmed yet, obviously) - Lianne La Havas (Potentially) - Thundercat (Potentially) - H.E.R. (According to one of the posts above) - Jon Hopkins (Maybe? Given the space theme and his answer in his Reddit AMA) - Madeon (IIRC he helped or had something to do with the Race, so he could also feature) - Brian Eno (Unlikely, but given how far back the concept stretches, possibly?) - More to come possibly? This could end up being similar to Everyday Life, but with a more electronic and spacier sound. I'm excited!

I must admit I'm not feeling entirely hopeful about the new era. But I think people are forgetting that Music of the Spheres as a concept started during the Viva days and that all the reused terms (Alien Radio) and reused set ideas and costumes from the MX tour seem to confirm this. Just like the MX and Viva eras, Jon Hopkins is allegedly back (from his reddit AMA) and that we've heard only one pop song (HP) while hearing another in the vein of Everyday Life (HH) and a weird ambient intro that sounds like the Escapist, MMIX, and Always in My Head combined. People are also overlooking how ambitious this is. This has entire worlds and planets, a concept, a language and culture, weird radio transmissions that suggest further clues, etc. This feels way too ambitious to be something like GS or AHFOD but rather something like MX or VLV. Will said his favorite song which was played on BBC big weekend but not broadcasted is something they've never done before - Chris also talked about a new song that was "weird and new", comparing it to metal/jazz-fusion. I think there's something much more exciting to come than what we've seen so far.
