I love Old Friends too, not a filler for me. Eko is good too. real fillers for me are sunrise, wotw/potp and bani adam. WINAF could have been a hidden track like the escapist. I would have added FOP, olive tree, broken, wedding bells, flags, LIAMR and weirdo.

ok I could finally listen to the different versions of The Race, it's surprising how the song evolved so much, with 3 different choruses and arrangements... so-called "GS demo" (the original one?) is the one I prefer, the piano is great and it would've been great on GS for its nostalgic mood. IMO it was kind of the same situation as for POTP (I prefer the demo too), where keeping the original idea could be the best idea

I'm lost with all The Races versions, I'm not sure I heard all of them. The last I heard had a different chorus (not the Kaleidoscope one) and I didn't like it that much. Last part "whatever it takes..." was great though. Wedding Bells was single material imo, together with FOP (2018 version) and Spanish Rain. It's hard to believe they just scrapped them without thinking of a proper release one day. Frankly I don't care that much of Moon Music right now, I'd prefer we got these songs released instead.

I know that more bands are using this new strategy today. I don't follow Imagine Dragons but I've seen they have released an Act I but I don't know how they re dealing the comunication of an Act II. Normally second parts come after a few months, not years, so I guess we will know more about MOTS vol.2 quite soon. maybe right after LSG will come out as single (December?)

this plan makes sense to me too I guess that, if they have planned all the next albums it's because they have already written most part of them. I expect we will have more unreleased tracks from previous eras (I cross my fingers for Bloodless Revolution on Vol.2)

I would make an album a la Viva la vida, with lots of double tracks: 1. Church 2. Orphans 3. Trouble In Town 4. Daddy 5. Arabesque 6. Eko / Old Friends 7. Flags 8. Guns (hidden track: Bani Adam) 9. Champion Of The World 10. Everyday Life (hidden track: When I Need A Friend)

I'm quite sure Vol. 2 will use the same formula of Vol. 1, mixing genres + some collab. I have the feeling they wrote enough songs for one album, but they will spread them on 2 or 3 volumes. So the songs will come from the same bunch. i'm also afraid Vol. 2 will be even shorter, with more emoji songs... I keep ready for the worst, so no surprises next time!

about the sound, so MOTS's concept is about different planets, so differnt moods and sounds. It's not easy to keep this in mind when the album flows... of course, POTP would sound much better on VLV, Coloratura on Ghost Stories, Humakind on MX, LSG on AHFOD, MU on a BTS album instead ... I think a song can sound different just because of the other songs nearby. Also, some songs are old demos revisited with Max martin (for sure POTP would have been different it is was finished in 2008 and produced by Brian Eno for VLV...) Also, I'm wondering how long making albums will still be a relevant thing, with streaming platforms etc... before we bought the full album for one song, now we can just pick what we like and leave the rest. I think this MOTS era is more aware of this and it has adapted its own way. We get volumes that seem like EPs, not really full albums, with a bit of everying inside for all tastes, some actrative collab to be on everyone's mouth, but what it counts is the song you've chosen for your playlist. The last real album I've listened to is Pressure Machine of The Killers, they did not even released official singles, just played a different song on every TV live performance and everyone (critics and public) agree the album as a whole is very very good
