  1. On November 14, Hip-O Records/Universal Music Enterprises will release Rhythms del Mundo, a collaborative record that unites members of the Buena Vista Social Club with their pasty white musical brethren. After obtaining permission from the various bands to modify their material, the Cuban collective (under the guidance of arranger Demitrio Muniz) created brand new backing tracks for the original vocals of songs like "I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For" and "She Will Be Loved". Even Arctic Monkeys, who are known for not loaning their music to anybody, gladly submitted "Dancing Shoes" to the Club. The musicians who play on the album include Barbarito Torres, Amandito Valdes, Virgilio Valdes, Angel Terri Domech, Manuel "Guajiro" Mirabal, and Orlando "Cachaito" Lopez. Legendary vocalist Omara Portuondo performs a cover of "Killing Me Softly", and duets with the late Ibrahim Ferrer on "Casablanca". Ferrer's contributions to the compilation ("Casablanca" and "As Time Goes By") are his last-ever recordings. As if all that wasn't special enough, Rhythms del Mundo benefits Artists Project Earth, a non-profit that aids natural disaster victims and helps raise awareness of climate change problems. Thom Yorke commented on APE's mission in a press release, stating, "We need a law, we need to have the government put climate change in its place. If you leave industry to sort it out on a voluntary basis, that's never going to happen. So everybody if they've got any concerns about climate change has to register that concern with their government officials because it's the only way to go." Clips from most of the tracks can be heard on the compilation's website. Since this is a benefit album, and everyone involved seems like nice people (except for the guy from Maroon 5), we're going to refrain from saying anything about what this stuff sounds like. Tracklist: 01 Coldplay - "Clocks" 02 Jack Johnson - "Better Together" 03 Arctic Monkeys - "Dancing Shoes" 04 Dido & Faithless - "One Step Too Far" 05 Ibrahim Ferrer - "As Time Goes By" 06 U2 and Coco Freeman - "I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For" 07 Maroon 5 - "She Will Be Loved" 08 Kaiser Chiefs - "Modern Way" 09 Omara Portuondo - "Killing Me Softly" 10 Vanya Borges feat. Quincy Jones - "Ai No Corrida" * 11 Sting - "Fragilidad" 12 Vanya Borges - "Don't Know Why" * 13 Aquila Rose & Idana Valdez - "Hotel Buena Vista" 14 Coco Freeman & Franz Ferdinand - "The Dark of the Matinee" 15 El Lele de Los Van Van and Radiohead - "High and Dry" 16 Ibrahim Ferrer and Omara Portuondo - "Casablanca" [bonus track] source: Pitchfork Media samples can be heard here: http://www.rhythmsdelmundo.com/

  9. well, yes. actually, "trees are fake" and "approach the morning bells" are confusing phrases and don't make too much sense, if you don't know the real meaning of that poem ;)
  10. yeah, i was listening to "A Reminder" during writing it :uhoh:
  11. Across The Universe - gotta be my favourite Beatles song ever
  12. ColdMike, your poems are kinda Chris Martin inspired, but in the good way ;) here's another "bad remembrance inspired poem", this time in English Rita (remastered) Reminder of your hair, Issue which was unfair, Treatment of my lost mind, A love that I couldn’t find Red wine and politics, Is that your real tactics? Tears which are not for real, A dream that you’d like to kill Rude words, annoying clocks Irony that perfectly works Thief of my last nerve cells, Approach the morning bells Revealed dry smile, Idiot in automobile, Trees are fake, Allowed mistake
  13. NEW ALBUM!!! JANUARY 30!!!!!!!!! http://www.pitchforkmedia.com/page/news/Clap_Your_Hands_Talk_New_LP#38951
  14. that is the point, actually. i mean banning an album because of that? ridiculous
  15. Beck banned from the charts New album's extra features breaks rules Beck's new album 'The Information' has been banned from the UK chart. The record, which was released on October 2, has fallen foul of the rules set by the Official Chart Company. The packaging of the CD, which includes a DVD feature and stickers that allow fans to design their own artwork, has made the album illegible in Sunday's (October 8) countdown. According to the OCC, the DVD of homemade videos for every song on the LP, plus the four random sticker sets designed by artists handpicked by Beck, have been designated as giving 'The Information' an "unfair advantage". 16. even after some departures (Tanguay, Blake), i'm expecting a good season. after all our team is full of talents and we had a pretty good pre-season (5-1-0) GO GO AVS!
  17. i had to write it down somewhere ignore this, it's just a bad remembrance Rita Rémálmaiban közt láttalak, Igazábol, csak kerestelek, Talán mégis megbántottalak?
  18. best post that i read today. completely agree back to topic, quite possible, though, probably not on the next LP
  19. nah, they can be idiots, but their reviews are really helpful, mostly...at least i think so Pitchfork are still 1st on my priority list when it comes to music reviews
  20. i'm wondering how many 14-18 years old teenagers voted for that Muse site lol
  21. actually, Jet have lack of originality, me thinks. i didn't like the album i listened to, full of rip-offs if you ask me...5-6 songs were enough for me and i deleted Jet forever from my PC. though, it probably still didn't deserve a "monkey piss" by the way, here's Pitchfork's review on Jet's 1st album, this one is more hilarious, imo. good read!
  22. i'm a big Beatles fan, but to be honest i don't care about their releases anymore...
  23. i buy CDs 2-3 times a month. mostly, i buy some "classics" that i want to get to complete my collection, i rarely buy new stuff...first i give a listen of course and only after buy never purchase from iTunes or similar online stores. waste of money and kilobits per second.......................... EDIT: i have 55 gb of music on my pc, 45 gb of it are live bootlegs. it means: i have 10 gb of illegal music. 5 gb of that music i own on purchased CDs, the rest 5 gb i'll have to get later on...though, i'm slowly starting to delete those files that i own on CDs, because of lack of free space :dozey:
