01 Nice electronica, loads of echo, almost incomprehensible female vocals. Awesome. 02 Electro dance kind of thing. Not really feeling the dude's vocals but the music's pretty hot. 03 Dakota by Stereophonics. Loved their first album, only really paid attention to their singles after that, though. I like this. 04 Heard bits of this on TV/radio on many occasions and always wondered what it was called. Really cool, dreamy trip-hop/electronica. Nice to hear it in its entirety! 05 Classical/ambient, strings, choir. Really nice. 06 Kinda trip hop vibe, female vocals. 07 Love the xylophone. Explodes at the chorus. Nice guitar sound at 2 mins. Wicked. 08 Embrace! They are my absolute favourite band, and Target is a TUNE. Not listened to this in ages so this was a wicked surprise. Awesome. 09 Cool sat around the campfire vibe. Big drum swings, shakers, acoustic guitar, rolling piano. 10 Funky bass, swirling backing vocals, strings, mantra repeated over and over. Epic stuff. 11 Editors? I only really know Munich and the singles from their 2nd album. This is really nice, starts off understated and grows and grows before falling back in on itself. 12 Don't know what language this is in but it's really fun. Wicked "ohh ohh yeah" backing vocals. Awesome. 13 One Day Like This by Elbow. I love this band and I love this song. Amazing. 14 Beautiful classical/ambient piano piece with strings. 15 Piano, soaked in strings and a choir. Is that Wayne Coyne singing? Not The Flaming Lips though, is it? Really beautiful. Really nice mixtape with loads of stuff that I'd like to check out and investigate further. Thanks for taking the time to make it, much appreciated!- The 5th Mixtape Exchange (Tapes In First Post)

I'm in.- Lost! Drum instrumental...?
The bass drum pattern changes during the chorus, though. I was trying to get some hi-hats to come in on the third verse, but I was having trouble switching from the chorus measure to the verse measure, and un-muting the hi-hats at the same time. I dont suppose the hats are essential though; there aren't cymbals in this until the ride comes in for the guitar solo at the end. I wish I could afford a Mac so I could use Logic Pro.- Geeky drum question alert
Your best bet is to take some photos and post them on a few forums or send them to some music shops to see if anyone can identify them for you.- Lost! Drum instrumental...?
I started making one but Fruity Loops isn't the best programme to use for sequencing full drum tracks for a whole song, well, the demo version isn't anyway. I'll try and have another go another time. Do you need it urgently?- Percussion in Lost!
To answer my own question, I've since found out that it's a bhangra dhol. I'm pretty sure that the drum track is played over the PA at concerts. On top of that, for the first two verses, Guy plays a bass drum, and Will plays his medium tom. Guy's playing a different pattern to the original bass pattern, so the combination of Will's tom, Guy's bass drum, and the original programmed beat means that the overall drum sound you hear at concerts isn't exactly the same as you hear on CD. For the third verse Will plays the beat on his snare, bass drum and hi-hats, but the programmed hip-hop beat carries on over the PA, so you still get that handclap sound and the bhangra dhol. I'm guessing Guy plays the bass drum because I don't think the bass guitar comes in until verse 3, so playing the drum gives him something to do until then, and also because it looks cool.- Peter Chilvers: Musician and studio engineer talks about Chris Martin, Natalie Imbruglia, and the "M
Chris Martin and Natalie Imbruglia 2009 started off with a very unexpected job. Brian Eno was working with Coldplay, and was experimenting recording the band without Chris Martin. He asked if I wouldn't mind recording Chris while he worked on material for Natalie Imbruglia's new album. I said I wouldn't mind. I wasn't sure what to expect, but engineering Chris turned out to be a case of trying to catch the enormous number of ideas that fly out of him. Most of the engineering projects I've worked on for Brian have been a case of pressing 'start' and then 'stop' several hours later when the musicians have finished improvising. Chris was recording short songs, constantly trying out new ideas, and it kept me on my toes. As the session went on, Natalie came in from time to time to try the songs out. 'Fun' in particular was beautiful, one of Chris's finest, I think. Finally Jon Hopkins and Leo Abrahams, expecting to be working on a completely different project, and picked up and developed the tracks with extraordinary speed. I've worked with a lot of talented musicians, but Jon and Leo are something of a class apart. Both Chris and Natalie went out of their way to make feel welcome, and the session was as enjoyable as it was unexpected. The album is due out in October... I'm not sure if anything from the demos made it into the final version. http://www.peterchilvers.com/news.php#chrismartin 4/Clockwork Cosmos (11:32) (From Peter's Downloads page) Time to up the pretension and throw in a few shamefully blatant name drops to boot... This piece uses only the notes of the "Mystic Chord" invented by the Russian composer Scriabin, and consisting of the notes C, F#, Bb, E, A and D. I heard about the chord while I was working for Brian Eno earlier this year. Chris Martin telephoned, and I ended up playing the notes down the 'phone while Brian described it to him. Maybe that means there will be a Coldplay track that only Scriabin could hum along to some time. Scriabin believed this chord, in conjunction with the right combination of colours, could bring about a cosmic change. I'm not convinced that happened when I played this, although I did get a craving for chocolate hobnobs. http://www.peterchilvers.com/downloads_december2007.php NB. There is a download link to Clockwork Cosmos on the page I've linked to above. The suggested price is £0.50 / $1.- New Coldplay.com Layout

No Big Pimpin' unfortunately. Still awesome though, I'd love to go to one of his own shows in the future. No I didn't see Jizo's post sorry, I've not really been on the forums much in the last few months. Yeah most people seemed to love Jay-Z, just a few white guys near me shouting at people who were having fun "Fuck off, you're white" and shouting "Look it's Kanye West/Eminem" when Jay-Z came on. Idiots!- 12-Sep-2009: Manchester, LCCC, UK - Tickets, Previews, Meetups, Reviews/Photos

Has anyone got any spares, please? I was at Manchester last night but couldn't get one because I had to make a dash for the train, which I ended up missing anyway! Actually, 2 would be great - my friend didn't get one either! Thanks if anyone can help :) - Avatar
