Hey look i know that Coldplay could just as easily get stabbed walking down the street in NYC.....however, until things settle down in the Middle East I dont think there is much of a chance on many bands coming an playing there. 2 fans on a messageboard isn't a good enough reason to place that type of a risk. Maybe if the peace process works out for a couple of months in a row than things will change. Fill me in......when was the last time U2, Oasis, or Radiohead played there? If its been in the last couple years than I'll apologize but I highly doubt it. If its not safe to ride a bus because there's so many people gathering then a concert would be even more dangerous. Coldplay and other bands haven't played in a lot of countries and continents but there's either not a great demand or its not safe to.
  4. nah he pulled the link after he got castrated by the people on the other board for selling those dvd's.

Hey its a TOOL thread!!! :o they rock!
  19. PS They appear to do much better at shows that they are well known at... ie:..........with good, faithful fans. A lot of show reviews have been slagging the lacklaster crowds. They probably just want to get through the night if its going to be lackluster. They get really excited at the BIGGER shows of the tour. (Hollywood Bowl, Red Rocks, Madison Square Garden, M.E.N., Earls Court) I also noticed that the reviews were much better on the back half of the recent American Tour threads than the first couple of shows.
  20. We love them like (like we like U2) because (the parallel...) * They have one of the best front men in rock (especially live) 8) * The guitarist is the quiet sonic ranger of the group  * The rest of the band is solid and the music is incredibly tight but they aren't competing for the spotlight. * They talk with the audience * They have a sense of humor * Great lights  * Synth backing tracks * They are both full of energy, youth, and integrity (Early U2 had so much of this) * I'm an athiest, but I BELIEVE when i listen to U2 and Coldplay (not preachy, but it aims for something higher and gives HOPE) :-x * Some politics and speaking for what you believe in (though not over-reaching it like RATM) * Ability to poke fun at one-self. * The ability to make music that is digestible and is liked by the masses and YET does not sell-out or is too poppy (ie why they are not compared to Radiohead anymore, U2 is a better comparison) * Great songs .... *......that can heard on the radio!! and seen on mtv!! :D * From the UK but translates VERY well and you feel like they are from your own country regardless. * The power of optimism * Appreciate their fans and our humble and confident at he same time * They play incredible shows during the pouring rain at Red Rocks during the first week of June :D I've been hearing the U2/Coldplay comparisons of late and i think there are very good reasons as there are tons of similarities and parallel lines. I just hope that those in the U2 don't think that Coldplay are COPYING  U2 as they still have different sounds and they have more integrity then that. Plus they have been compared to Travis and Radiohead before and those comparisons haven't lasted as their sound has changed. The amazing thing is that U2 did Joshua Tree as their FIFTH studio album. Its amazing to see Coldplay take off as they have. But there is a reason and a lot of that is how good their live show is. Ok enuff talkin' go see them already!! 8) PS Hopefully all the U2 tapers will jump in and start taping most of our shows!!
  21. That's NOTHING!!! http://coldplay.artscience.net/vbb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=14232&highlight=funny http://coldplay.artscience.net/vbb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=13551 http://coldplay.artscience.net/vbb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=21326 Enjoy !! :eyecrazy:
  22. I sent him a nasty email, what f*cknut. :x Seriously what type of journalist spends a whole article comparing them against the biggest band in the world who has been around for 20 years longer? Here's my IMPARTIAL  reviews 6/5/03 Politik God Put a Smile Upon Your Face A Rush of Blood to the Head Daylight Trouble Don't Panic One I Love Moses Everything's Not Lost (with a bit of U2 "40") The World Turns Upside Down Yellow The Scientist/What a Wonderful World Encore: Clocks In My Place Amsterdam Weather started out terrible in the morning but got progressively better during the day. Sprinkled only 3 times i think and only for a couple of minutes. Got their LATER than expected around 4:30 and luckily took a shuttle. I recommend waiting at the ramp to the left of the bathrooms. (think left side of the venue or if you were INSIDE looking at the stage it would be the right). Very light security and I repeat: YOU CAN BRING CAMERAS AS LONG AS THEY AREN'T PROFFESSIONAL WITH INTERCHANGEABLE LENSES!! So anyway getting in there wasn't bad, 12th row but could have gotten 10th. Good seats anyway, but maybe closer tomorrow. Eisley wasn't too bad, kind of reminded me of Belly or Juliana Hatfield. (their just babies!!) Ron was great as always and a lot of newcomers liked him i think, a slightly better reception. Anyway Coldplay came on with Politik as always and brought the sold out crowd to their feet. (some industry types were in front side section and were evidently lackluster but everyone else stood and was very receptive (no sitting! ). He said a few things early in the show but he raced past the mic each time that it was hard to understand. A Rush replaced Spies (thank god!!) and they launched into it a little quick. Daylight was awesome as always and then they said how great it was they were playing at Red Rocks and how they've come a long way since they played for 4 people here 3 years ago. He then introduced Trouble and said its a song about when you piss off your girlfriend. Chris launched into the vocals of Trouble way early and brought the song to a hilarious halt. Got a mediocre singalong with Trouble (had to stop and correct us) and then he got us clapping in time to anticipate for Don't Panic. He went for the regular version without the long intro (had some problems i think). Then launched into a rocking One I Love and then Moses. Actually Everything's Not Lost was a highlight for me even though i often think of it as filler. He used his lyrical substitution with "If you've already made too many mistakes this concert, just remember that you're playing at Red Rocks". Then during the quiet bit he did a bit of U2's 40-"How long must we sing this song..." A great climax as he urged everyone to sing at the end. New song The World Turns Upside Down was great. Unusual beginning (wasn't quite into at first, but it grows on you) but it finishes with a great 1 minute jam. Went into Yellow and there was just the same great recepetion as most songs for it but not people suddenly waking up as had been said in other cities. Chris was dancing all around the stage (skipping really). Scientist came across really well. The What a Wonderful World cover was really pretty and he threw in the "I see skies of blue, Red Rocks too..." And then they went off. They got fog machines going full force on Clocks and the laser over the crowd was amazing. In My Place was great and Chris was going nuts and really egged on the crowd. He said we deserved one more song for all the mistakes (was REALLY hoping to hear the Sunday Blood Sunday cover they were working on during soundcheck) and played a great version of Amsterdam. So all in all great show (not too short ) and a very enthusiastic Chris. He was all over the stage (jamming, skipping, dancing, waddling at one point over to Jonny. Jonny was in a great mood and was laughing a lot. Him and Chris met up a few times during the show to rock out. While the show had just a few mistakes and a missed note or two it added to the character of the show. Good crowd, all standing. Could have been a little better at singing along but that's not a big issue with me. Anyway a top notch show and i got my tourbook! -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 6/6/03 Politik God Put a Smile Upon Your Face A Rush of Blood to the Head Daylight Trouble Don't Panic One I Love Moses Everything's Not Lost (adlibbed about the rain) The World Turns Upside Down Yellow The Scientist/What a Wonderful World (Turned it in one verse to "what a wonderful crowd") Encore: Clocks In My Place Amsterdam Encore: Lips Like Sugar Life is For Living While yesterday the boys were just happy being here (very giddy, playful, and a few mistakes) they came to perform tonight. Its almost like the first night was a great dress rehearsal and last night was the real show. Got in 1st row with some help from my friends! It started raining about 30 minutes before CP came on and never stopped. We really got drenched as it was VERY much like the U2 Under a Blood Sky show if you've ever seen the footage from 20 years ago. It would have been miserable if not for CP putting on a fantastic performance. Double encore and they kept thanking us for weathering the storm. The crowd in turn was even better than the night before and were VERY passionate. Luckily they started the opening bands much earlier and CP went on about an hour earlier. The drive home was scary as hell as the rain was so thick and it was so dark that visability was terrible. I got some great pictures I'll be sharing soon with everyone once they're uploaded from my friend's camera.
